I don't remember, bought the paint 2 years ago.I will contact the shop and find out tomorrow. The inscription on the tin reads as follows.
526 DGS PB Ref:AEC5(30522).Not sure if it will help. Thanks for your help.If it is acrylic, i thought it was the case, clear over colour and then polish.

So its a solid color?? no metallic init??

I still would have cleared it it gives you depth to your paint. You know when you look at a paint job and it looks very deep to look at??
You cant achive that look with out clear.

If i was you i'd rerub it with 800, repaint it and lay down about 3-5 coats of clear over it. This will give you a lot more material to cut and polish and will also
prevent light scratching.

And just a word of worning also to you - DO NOT USE ACRYLIC ON THE TANK......... if you spill one drop of fuel on it it will eat into it and spoil your paint work.

It has to be done in 2K- the tank at least.

If you dont beleve me paint something with your color and flick alittle fuel on it and watch what happens- it doesn't matter if you clear it as it is still acyillic.

Hope this helps you out

Cheers damo

I was only talking to my paint guy the other day about 2 pac over acrylic, I was going to 2 pac clear coat the engine cases of my R3 Yamaha which I have painted with a rattle can silver.
Now in my case he recommended no, mainly because he could not trust the paint I used to be a quality acrylic, but in theory you can 2 pac over acrylic, basically you sand flat the acrylic surface with fine paper and prime with a clear primer, probably a dulon product, which adheres to the acrylic and is compatible for 2 pac over.
cheers.....

You cant paint over acyllic with 2k it will just de laminate!!

If you are talking about re priming your acyllic with a clear 2k primer this is different- because you are re priming the job again to give the 2k clear something to adhere to i personnally wouldn't trust this way to work out in the long run.

Fletch you would be better off getting yourself some base coat color and starting all over again, in the long run it will be a quality job and last for yrs.

The difference between painting acyllic and 2k is not really that big adeal- if you can swing a spray gun at something its the same deal.

Your base coat is just teh same aplication as acyllic put it on the same way.

The clear is the one that counts- put down about 3-4 coats and really the last one is the money shot mate ,

Just put on wetish coats but not saturated so it runs

Let it tack off between coats for about 10mins and recoat

Dont worry if you see dry spots pick them up in the next coat- dont rush it and dont try and get coverage in the first coat.

The last coat is teh one that makes the whole job worth it - it needs to be a nice wetish coat with no dry spots and a shine

The shine you get in your last coat will be the finished product.

Use a super fast hardener not a normal hardener and the job will be touch dry in about 15-30 mins depending on temperature.

Make sure you where a mask and just enjoy it for what it is- your first 2k paint job, you wont ever paint anything in acryllic again.

Hope this helps

If your gonna have a go mate pm me and i'll flick you my number and i'll help you out if you get stuck during teh job.
