ZXR750j1 factory alloy tank fittings??
Can some one help me out with some pics of the mounts for a alloy factory kit zxr tank?? 91-92 mod
I need some pics of the tank fitted - and also the tank removed. And also some shots of the box set up they run with the Factory kit tank.
They are completly different tanks and teh alloy one runs a big serg tank at the rear of it where the air box is. Did they run an air box??
Any info/ pics / ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers damo

Yes I'll take some pics of the tank and mounting bracket however I haven't got an original race air box. I've been trying for ages to find one but no luck. The closest I came was finding aftermarket superbike ones but they had just stopped making them and had just sold the last one!

Re: ZXR750j1 factory alloy tank fittings??
Yes I have two set ups....one where I run open velocity stacks that came with the race flat slides and mesh to prevent stones going in and the second is some socks that mount onto smaller velocity stacks.
I'll get pics for you today.
But let me tell you that the standard 91 J engine is not a good engine...as I've said elsewhere...it was built by the factory to comply with a 100hp limit ...so as strika pointed out....
"they wouldn't pull your brother off your sister. They were a mega short stroke motor with no torque but also ran out of puff up top, so the motor in stock form was useless."
That's why the race motor I have for it is a H motor modified to fit into the J chassis. So I would advise against doing any work to the J motor (unless your prepared to spend a fair amount of money) and probably say go get an early ZX9R engine and wack that in.
this page will give you the details:

Thats awesome mate cheers
The rear tank set up is the same as mine but the front mount you have is completely different.
Mine has what looks like half a hinge set up?? its a long cylinder type mount on the tank that looks as if it runs a pin through it to mounts on the frame.
Love those carb set ups- is that what they ran in that period of racing do you know??

I believe that they did run flatslides but I'm no expert on that era. Someone here might know.
Interestingly the race fairings I have for the bike came off a bike run in that era and they had the same paint scheme as the pic you posted.

Can I ask did you obtain those fairings from "Race Glass" In Victoria and are they carbon/kevlar mix?
Cheers

It does pivot on the hinge but not really enough...damo1 wrote:Cheers maddog thats exactly the same set up as mine.

It's easier to work on with out the tank so I take the tank off..
4 bolts and a quick release fuel line then I can take top of the ram air box off to access carbs.

Racers Edge do fairings for the older bikes, I just tried to price some up for mine, I was hoping the ZX6 stuff would fit it but only the Ducktail was the same (which was the bit I really needed anyway!)
