1993 zxr 750 L Rebuild 2
1993 zxr 750 L Rebuild 2
I have decided to get off my bum and finish the prep work on the bike. A new job and the joy of moving sort of killed the dream, but after watching a vid on utube of a guy painting his car in a shed, then opening the door, only to see 2 feet of snow outside, it kinda inspired me. In the first topic i posted (1993 zxr 750 L Rebuild) i showed the parts i want to paint. I have started to prep and prime. Nothing has been wet sanded yet for base. Will add more pic's when the base and clear is done.
Ok,I now have the base completed.I have a question. Can I put clear over the Acrylic after it has been polished? Or is it a waste of time?

Its the part that connects the two front fairing parts. It connects at the bottom behind the front wheel.Supafrog wrote:What part is that last photo????

Re: 1993 zxr 750 L Rebuild 2
Today i primed both side farings, rear covers and nose fairing. Will take some pics tomorrow. Had to duck into town to pick up some 800 grit paper and paint for guide coat. So im hoping to get some colour on it soon.Just some blocking back and touch ups an she will be a goer.

Hey Fletch,
I have a Kwaka can that was on my XZ6R and should fit a ZXR750, seems to be the same bolt pattern.
It has a part number on it if it will help you and i can get it later when i get home.
BTW i'm only up in Carindale and i'll be playing golf at Carbrook on Sunday.

Re: 1993 zxr 750 L Rebuild 2
There is no point to polishing your base cos your clear is the one that counts and has to be polished if you use a acylic again anyway.FLETCH wrote:Ok,I now have the base completed.I have a question. Can I put clear over the Acrylic after it has been polished? Or is it a waste of time?
You should have just kept painting at the time and cleared it.
You can re rub it with say 2000 and then clear it if you like.-But You cannot! 2k clear over acylic it will de laminate afetr time and all the clear will peel off in sheets.
Are you sure its acrylic and not base coat you have used??
