KSRC-AU Brains Trust. OEM Parts at resonable prices?

Post by pittster »

Hello All,

Would love to know if there is a particular Bike shop, Online store etc that sells OEM parts for Kawasaki's (specifically 08 Zx-10r).

Recent prices have left a sour taste in mouth.

$83 for OEM rear pads  Now i'm probably going to go for Metal gear Sintered Pads for the rear, cause i have heard good things about, i barely use my rear & $30 is hard to go past.

I would love to buy some other various bits for the bike but prices are just mental. I don't mind having to pay extra for OEM that's normal but is there a way to get the parts from the source.

http://www.kawasakipartshouse.com/ is cheap but shipping from USA is the issue.

Thanks for your time.

Of the two sites above, a ZRX headlight fairing is $875Aus at one and $334US at the other. The first is pretty regular Aus dealer price. Man we get ripped in this country!
2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R :) Yeah I like Kawasakis.

We get absolutely screwed over by dealers who think aussies are just dumb fucks who won't complain about spare parts prices. It shits me to tears, and you also read all the sob-stories in the bike press from journos who implore us all to *support your local dealer*....

well the reality is that in 2011, my local dealer lives in the US, has parts prices that are 40-60% cheaper than here, and ships stuff to my door in less than a week.

If local dealers were competitive in the market - and its a global market now, not the old insulated market it used to be 20 years ago - then I would be the first one to beat a path to their door.

But while ever they continue to bullshit about prices etc - my $$$ are going overseas. BTW, that same aussie dollar - the one that is now worth US$1.08 - should mean that prices of spare parts in dealers should be cheaper - much cheaper - than they were a couple of years ago.

No evidence of that at any bike shop I use. The only things I buy these days from local bike shops are tyres & oil. That's it. And even that is looking decidely wobbly for tyres - a set of racetrack treaded Avons ( selling her for almost $700 a pair  ) can be sourced and landed here for well under $500 !!
