ohh Saving private Ryan, forgot that one. Good call.
Now all i need is to figure why the amp has a badly performing channel. If it's a mosfet or a dry solder joint. Though i suspect it's the latter as it's getting some audio, but a fraction of what it usually does.

Yeah Saving Private Ryan was the first movie I used with my (many years ago) first 5.1 surround setup awesome sound.

But yeah for Blu Ray Avatar, Inceptions music is A+++ ohh and can't go past the Matrix.

Basically any BD that is a action movie that outputs True DTS. I hear a noticable difference between this and normal 5.1

True DTS?
It's Dolby True HD " or DTS HD Master
Dolby Digital is not associated with Digital Theatre Systems :D :kuda:

Hmm well if i use a DVD my Yamaha Amp says "Dolby Digital" But if i use a Bluray (not all) it can come up with "DTS" or DTS Digital Surround. I don't know i'm not that deep into the Audiophile world but my low end Yamaha Amp which is 5.1 highest input for sound is DTS?

I always thought 99% of movies only had support for true 5.1 where the extra channels in 7.1, 8.1 &10.1 were virtually done by the Amp? Except for the new stuff like Avatar which actually can output seven channels?

Dunno i'll be the first to admit im no expert on it.

Below is a grab from google about what audio BluRay can do.

"What audio codecs will Blu-ray support?

Linear PCM (LPCM) - up to 8 channels of uncompressed audio. (mandatory)
Dolby Digital (DD) - format used for DVDs, 5.1-channel surround sound. (mandatory)
Dolby Digital Plus (DD+) - extension of Dolby Digital, 7.1-channel surround sound. (optional)
Dolby TrueHD - lossless encoding of up to 8 channels of audio. (optional)
DTS Digital Surround - format used for DVDs, 5.1-channel surround sound. (mandatory)
DTS-HD High Resolution Audio - extension of DTS, 7.1-channel surround sound. (optional)
DTS-HD Master Audio - lossless encoding of up to 8 channels of audio. (optional)"
