Z1000 + bottle of Jack
ZED- 3 1/2 years and all but 68,000km later as a commuter+tourer
Can't fault the bike, need good thermals for winter riding... but I'm a girl
I had the same issue a year and a half ago; 6/7/9/10/Zeddy?
I decided I wanted a modern sportsbike so then 6/10?
I hopefully have many many years of riding so plenty of time for BIG horsepower - best to learn the craft very well before big power, so ZX6R.
Lots of SHORT distance commuting, weekend rides and track days later I love it more and more! Only reason I just brought the bandit was pillion experience for me and the mrs sucks big time.
personally I wouldnt have a 6r for the road. To much hard work.
You need to ride the revs everywhere and you cant really be lazy.
The 1000 has the power to sit in one gear at any speed limit (6th included) then accelerate from 50 to 110 quicker than most cars without changing a gear. Same at the twisty stuff. i normally just leave it in 4th or 5th and just roll around fast enough to keep thing interesting
600's are great just not my cup of tea for the road

I just got off my restrictions and bought a 6. I commute 150kms each day on it and love it. It takes a bit of getting used to the riding position but your body will get used to it over time.
Fuel wise I get about 245 kms before the fuel light comes on.
I have a Z1000 because I'm an old fuck, (65) and my back won't take the riding position of a ZX10R. If I was a young man there would be no question. Or maybe I'm a girl, but am I a pretty girl? Time to contemplate my sex over a Jim Beam.

My my you are pretty , if i was single ide give you one .
love it oldman, i am swaying towards the z1000 though.
My daily commute isnt that far but i do like the idea of lazy power!
I also like the idea of a bottle of jack thanks poss
I think i have a problem where i view the z as more of a commuting bike because the riding position and naked-ness, however i have seen them go hard around the hills too!
I was contemplating a 2011 Z1000 earlier this year but ended up buying a 2009 ZX10R. I guess i wanted to buy a thou sportsbike before i got too old(bad back etc) to be able to ride one. I commute on mine albeit only approx 18-20 km's round trip. Is it overkill for a commuter ? Probably but i love the take off from lights + i travel outside of peak hours being a shift worker.
so i have decided on a z1000... there are two that im looking at one has 4500kms one has 1500kms both in good nick both 2010 models both with about 6months warranty left. The question is which one would you buy??? the higher km one is $1000 cheaper...Want to put a deposit on one of them on monday two weeks till licence
I'd get the one with the lower price. 1K is a lot of accessories for just 3000kms... Congrats on the new bike regardless of which one you choose! Make sure to post pictures!

They both have bugger all k's, I would also go the cheaper one and buy accessories. Not just shit bling - stuff that actually does stuff - if you know what I mean
