1986 GPZ750 Fuel Tank

Post by jj-taylor »

Gday all, I'm not sure if anyone can help or point me in the right direction here, but, I'm chasing a fuel tank for a 1986 GPZ750 as i have had the one bike blasted and powder coated and though it looks great when empty
it closely resembles a sprinkler down one seem when I put fuel it, when ,as you can probably guess, doesn't make it all that fun much to be sitting on whilst it is leaking everywhere!! I am going to try some Tank sealing compounds
but I don't know if I really trust these and don't want to be miles from nowhere if and when they give up.

Any help greatly appreciated, I'm in Perth but shipping is fine...

i have used one of those tank cream kits on one of my historic race bikes it works great and my tank was the same it was like a sprinkler and once i put a kit through it worked great and hasn't leaked since, i would highly recomned it.

Gday all, and thanks for your help,
I ended up using devcon on the larger holes on the inner seam and lined the tank using the KBS Motorbike tank kit, it appears to have worked very well but only time will tell, I aslo picked a tank with a couple of dents in it through findpart.com locally for $50.00 so now I have a tank to get looking how I want while still having a bike to ride!!! So all in all a great outcome!!

Thanks guys

Jethro

Hey Baz, as it turned out the Tank repair wasnt as good as I had hoped, what would you consider a fair offer to be for one of your tanks??

Cheers,

Jeff
