How to lift my bike to get the forks off?
Hi fella,s im after some advice on how id go about lifting my bike so i can take out the front end off my 05 zx6 so i can change fork seals?
We have moved and at my old house there was rafters in the shed i could hang the bike from by the top triple tree but ive got nothing here,so does anyone have an idea how i can safely lift the front or the bike so i can get my forks out and do my seals?
Thanks Matt

Get Stace and Jonno to lift the bar ends up while you work on the bike .
They are not very smart but can lift heavy things .

No, it won't. It will be quite safe to do it that way. Just check carefully that there's nothing that's going to get pinched or squashed and you should be fine.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left. Phil

I've used car axel stands on either side of the sump before - gives better balance than something under the centre of the sums

I've used a rear stand and a hydraulic jack. I just put a 2cm 10x10cm piece of wood on the top of the jack to spread the load evenly and mount it as close as i can to a compound curve for the whole strength factor as it is going to be a lot stronger than a straight flat smack bang in the middle..photomike666 wrote:I've used car axel stands on either side of the sump before - gives better balance than something under the centre of the sums

Re: How to lift my bike to get the forks off?
Just be careful where you put the lump of wood and the jack, too far back and you get mighty close to the centre of gravity, the rear lifts off the stand and things start tipping all over the place......hypothetically speaking of course

Re: How to lift my bike to get the forks off?
I honestly used a commodore rim under the sump of my old 550 to support it when i did the forks on it... it works and if u place it right its solid it wont move!!
