your bike will make it fine. The bike won't overheat unless you have some pre-existing issue that should be fixed anyway. Have some visor cleaner with you. Take good wet weather gear and a change of clothes. Take plenty of water.
would recommend you plan regular stops and breaks as riding is more tiring than driving. Avoid riding at night to reduce the number of animals on the road. Some good music would be good.
I live with fear everyday but on weekends she lets me ride.
Its still a pretty much new bike, less then 1,000kms on the clock but will get a mechanic to check it before i leave.. its actually my first roadbike so not really up on the mechanically sides of things!
Probably a random question but would anyone know if there is any kind of bike attachment that could transport reptiles, like a way to attach a container etc the bike.
I don't want to have to carry him in a back pack or i won't be able to carry much esle with me! lol
If you have the time available, I would take two or three days and make a road trip of it away from the highway.
You'll go insane slabbing that Pacific Highway

I've kind of gotta transport a snake with me, so wanted to get him to his new home asap to avoid disturning him to much.. Do you have any recommendations of any luggage holder that can strap down to the bike to place him?
I don't know how to carry him and clothes in one back pack lol i am thinking of staying over night in coffs harbour though to be able to rest..
So 250's will have no problems doing the long haul, its got less then 1,000kms on the clock
take lots of breaks, maybe a sheepskin seat cover - rode from sydney - mudgee - gulgong on the old zzr250 & your bum WILL get numb
As for the snake,...
as a snake owner I would in all seriously recommend sending him via AAE instead. Have taken the odd one to the vet on the bike but really, if the worst happens, at best he may escape, at worst a big smear on the road. Plus he will get very cold. If you must, a closed cloth bag on shredded paper inside a clickclack box in a tankbag. HTH
The snake is not going to fare well in any type of container on the back of the bike. It will bounce it around a lot. It may rub through it's skin from the vibrations and bouncing. I would look at another method of transporting the snake. Also, it is going to vary in temperature considerably over the trip from morning to night. Not the best thing for a snake I would think, unless you have some battery operated heater??

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?
Get a tankbag, buy a crapload of these in the small size and just activate them one at a time on top of the clickbox and rest the clickbox in a bed of foam peanuts .
Reactivate them overnight and reuse them with mr snakey the next day for leg #2.
been there, done that (and on a gpx250 ; the old shape one; an 89 model)
first trip was an eye opener;
sydney to brisbane in 12 hours (sw sydney to gold coast actually), NEVER AGAIN, cold, wet, red eyed and deaf from being prone for 4 hour stretchs prone with bike @11000rpm.
return trip took 17 hours, much nicer (also bought ear plugs, and a set of thermals).
on the up trip bike got 380k's per tank, and the down trip she got 450k's per tanks, so economy was really good.
take a small tankbag and/or a decent backpack. too big tank bag means bike feels too top heavy, nd too big backpack means sore back and fells like dragging a parachute!.
With the highway the it is (with all the diversions) plan your trip on google maps (with stops @ servos or towns every 150-250 k's AND STOP AT THEM! have a wander around, a feed, a big drink of water (no beer!) and a pee, and another wander. off bike for about 1/2 hour means youre fresh for the next leg
anyhow, that works for me, and I do that trip sydney/GC/sydney) now twice a year on either my er6 or rf900 (when i get it going; slack @rse)
