racing and all the associated toys!

Post by Six Addict »

So in a bid to get into racing supermoto and some dirt bike riding some things need to be sold, and plenty of things need to be baught.

first thing is to sell the zx6r which can be found http://www.ksrc-au.com/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 16&t=34891 then after that i need to sell my leathers that dont fit and cant be modified :( http://www.ksrc-au.com/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 17&t=34994

ive already picked up a tow vehicle, a 1995 subaru liberty auto sedan.

today i had a new battery put in and also a tow bar added.

thanks goes to firey for the contact of aranda towbars... they installed the towbar on site which saved me a trip to fairfield, and the workmanship looks tops!

the next step is to find a bike... im thinking either kx450f or a yz450f, mostly because there are shitloads of them about, i can pick up a good one for not much moolah, and spares will be plentiful! although im kind of secretly hoping a suitable 5 speed kx comes up :P

then i will add a trailer and some supermotard wheels and associated gear. glenn at allfixed has been great in that regard, and once i buy my bike i'll be placing orders for everything through him, cheers glen, you guys do great work!!

all this is to be done by the august marulan day, so it will be a fun few months :kuda:

Cool.

Question though, why a KLX450f? have you read much about them? Investigated the go fast mods?

I know it is probably the wrong site to say this but the KLX isnt the best option in terms of speed :?

there's not a lot of them, and they cost a lot...

also there are limitations to the mods i can make to race in the supermono series, most dirt bikes have had a slip-on and airbox mods done, and you cant do much more than that...

Mate you should be happy with the Liberty...like the wheels. :kuda:

I have a MY05 with over 230k kms and love it great to drive and easily tows quite a big trailer. Mine is able to tow 1.8 tonnes with the genuine towbar.

ive looked at husky, johnno, there are some 450 enduro's around for 6k ish, a few old 450EXCs (03) for like 4 grand...

and yes russ i may regret it, in which case a wr450f looms as the most sensible choice... :)

Whatever works mate, just choose wisely and gather all the info, older bikes can cost heaps or as much as a newer model in repairs in the end.

So what's everyones' opinion on the best registerable 450 dirtbike/motard? I wouldn't mind knowing this either just in case I get too much money burning a hole in my pocket one day and I need to spend it on a dirt bike.
