Calcium based grease....

Thank's for that oldman (not Glen) it's what I suspected

...

Glen nah it's a Breton machine but after further investigation this morning found out that calcium based greases are used in high water areas but are not sold in australia

....Shell have suggested "Retinex CS00" as it has similar charateristic's as a calcium based grease....So might have to give that a go even if it doe's only come in 20kg drum's I only need like 1kg top's

Hmm, still awaiting the father in law to hear back from the guys in the US, but i suspect he'll have a similar story to you lot. Unless they know of a loophole somewhere.....

Well h got back to me, definitely on the "dangerous goods" list and sea freight would be the best way of getting some sent here. As you would want your CNC gear back up and running asap i think you might be best following up on the suggestions from shell.

Depends on the DG classification. Get the MSDS from the manufacturers website and you may be able to airfreight it ok. I'll check tomorrow if BP / Castrol do something to suit

Mike I have the Castol equivalent on my computer at work I can post it up tomorrow but I'm guessing you may get the same answer I got but fingers crossed

I think of the top of my head but not sure that the castrol equivalent is "TVX Alpha gel" will let you know 100% tomorrow...

Would need more details to get recommendation, try calling Csstrol technical 1300 557 998. Having a handbook or wider list of info to help source correct grade of grease. As per mobil 44 & 47 mentioned earlier, 44 is a 00 grade (more fluid) and 47 is a grade 2 grease (less fluid). You need to determine correct grade.

Also, calcium is an older type grease and lithium may be a modern equivalent.

Well problem solved sort of the aggregate went bang on wednesday and got a quote to replace it 8,000eu

.....To be honest I don't think the unit was suitable to the amount of mitre cutting we were doing....So with a blank cheque from the boss went out and bought one of ---THESE--- cost 28k but will be in the factory by next wednesday....Will free up the CNC for other job's and after checking one out in another shop last week give's a far superior finish so win win IMO
