Motorcyclist killed in Lara

Post by Hawksam »

:( Got caught up this morning in the traffic jam on the way to work. Alovely police lady advised me to take care.

EMERGENCY services are at the scene of a fatal motorcycle crash at Lara.

It is believed the male rider lost control of the motorbike while riding along Forest Rd, near the intersection of Heales Rd, about 6am.

Paramedics were unable to revive the man, aged in his late 30s, when they arrived on the scene.

Senior Sergeant Shane Coles, of Corio highway patrol, said police were yet to determine the cause of the crash and a number of possible scenarios were under consideration.

RIP and condolences to the family

The road at the section where the accident happened is very dangerous because of the fertiliser plant which leaves crap all over the road.

Motorcyclist dies in power pole crash Ellen Wescott-Dawson
June 6, 2011 - 10:05AM
.A motorcyclist was killed this morning in Lara, after veering off the road and colliding with a power pole.

Police were called to the intersection of Forest and Neales roads at 6am today by a motorist who came across the collision scene.

It appears the motorcyclist, aged in his late thirties, lost control of the motorcycle and veered across the road. He clipped the power pole and was thrown on to the road, a police spokeswoman said.

Advertisement: Story continues below Police arrived to find power lines down across the road as a result of the collision, and had to wait for the power to be shut down before attending to the man.

Police are investigating why the motorcyclist lost control and the exact cause of the collision, and will prepare a report for the coroner.

The death brings Victoria's Provisional Road Toll to 135 for the year – compared with 127 at this time last year.
