the weather today prompted me in think how long it has been since one of these has occured.

Answer = too long

SO at this stage with alot more people agmonst us having a dirt squiter I thought I would try and orgainse a day out.

Somewhere with some trails and a few small jumps would be ideal. Was thinking Appin would be the best due to location and facilties. Everyone can access it as you dont need a licence.

$50 would cover entry so a relatively cheap day compared to an EC TD.

As mentioned no confirmed date yet just looking for EOI, so raise your hand if your keen.

Took the WR out yesterday for its second shake down ride after stripping the power valve and replacing the rubbing blocks .
Changed the front sprocket +1 from its first outing . Seems like there is a heap of tracks through the bush around Bendigo and some sand pits that get frequented by the local MX kids .
Bike is going great , new gear fits OK . Been over 15 years since I've been dirt riding :oops: So might do a few training/learning rides before rushing out with any of you lot :lol:
Ummmm let me see

Takes it out of you doesnt it :shock: (especially when I kept dropping/stalling it on big hills) :roll:

It wont take long to get back into the swing of it, but fitness obviously helps :oops:

Hypothetically, would this sort of thing be ok for a dirt beginner (i.e, never been dirt riding, but can kinda ride a road bike), or should the hypothetical person have had a bit of dirt riding practice first?

Yep all skill sets Cath.

The good thing with Appin is you can park your car set up your gear next to it with an esky and set of and come back as often as you like. Wether it was onto the few trails the have or onto the MX track to do a couple of laps and come back in. The track is not intimidating as all the jumps are table tops so you can jump over them or just ride over them.......or a bit of both whilst you get the hand of it. No pressure to clear anything or die style jumps ;)

LOL - I don't need to be encouraged guys - it's more about timing and fitting two dirt bike purchases into the budget.
I hate having a budget! It's nowhere near as much fun as just spending money :P

Ok so if I wanted to get into this thing after researching bikes on ebay, knowing nothing about dirt bikes (or road ) what size bike do you need CC wise for an 80kg 6' male???? Is a 250 too small. Remembering only learning on the dirt!

There is a few km's of trails at Appin still but nowhere near the amount there used to be. Still enough to break up the mx track laps
