If it's a new bike in warranty I'd err on the side of caution and have the scheduled services done by a kawasaki dealer. If there was ever a problem on a new bike I don't want any questions about servicing to cloud things. I'd do in betweeners myself ie drop the oil and filter every 3,000.

Once out of warranty I'd do minors ie Oil, Filters etc myself and get a good mechanic eg Allfixed to do the majors ie Valve clearances.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

That's exactly what I do, not only do you save some dough you get to know your bike. Slowly you get the confidence to do more and more yourself.

yeah i think ill do the minor things like oil change, just to get my head around it. I got my hand on the manual had a good look there is a fair bit that i wouldn't attempt. gotta start somewhere!! :D
