Need pic of pillion on a zx-12r

Post by Supafrog »

Guys(and monkeys. elephants, marsupials),

Does anyone have a pic of a zx-12r with a pillion sittng on , and a ventura rack with bag on at the same time?

Trying to convince 'the boss' that it will be comfortable and the rack rails wont rub on legs.. and the rack wont make the seating position too tight...

Any thoughts? comments??? hopefully pics???

just make sure she dont lean on the rack.
they arent made to hold the weight of a pillion leaning on them.

Thats a given Wattie...

But can the L bracket bars be used as handle-grips along the sides? (or does it say that's a no no as well?)

You wont get fingers between the L brackests and the rear tail piece as the gap is too small but can be used to hold onto..

All the pillions I have had and even on the bike never lean back that far.

Although they say not to overload the rack I have had well in excess many times i.e two bags full, 1 with a slab of beer and whatever else I jam in there and the other full of dog food probably over 30kg and nothing gave way or showed signs of giving way. (no pic of that)

Thats all I have as far as images, however as flimsy as they look they are stronger than you think, only issue many 12R owners have had is the nutserts in the frame spin and isnt a big problem in itself.

Jonno,

Thanks for the words of wisdom and the pics (enough to make me drool)... I see what you are mentioning..

Still looking for a side on photo though, that shows pillion seating position.

I can assure you the pillions legs dont touch the bars, the rear pegs are high enough to keep their legs above them. Never had a complaint about the seating position other than it is high but they enjoyed the view ;)

 - wish I could help with some pics Frog, but alas I have none with the bride on the back....

they are comfy enough for pillions though, and with the added support of the rack - well she will be fine. The thing with these bikes is that pillions generally lean forward to stay close to the rider, so are unlikely to ever be supported by the rack ....

I used to travel with shinny to and from work on the back of the 12 and it was soooo comfy ( i was surprised) i would hold onto the ventura rack L brackets and had no problems at all :)
