Buggerd if I know if they doctor the "demo" bikes but in real life the BMW has nothing.
Case in point.
Just today I had a standing start drag race with my mate who just happens to have the 1000RR.
This bike is not stock. K&N. full system, PCV and tune.
My bike is a 2009 model with a K&N, Slipon with boom box removed and one tooth down on the front sprocket.
The start was even with him getting the jump but only just not much but just. The thing was I pulled a bike on him in first 1/2 a bike again in 2nd. The BMW pulled that back and then about a bike on me by the time I toped out 3rd and that was it the gap stayed the same 4th,5th we buttoned of 1/2 way into 6th (running out of road).
Now you can read all the comparos you like but I was quite proud of my big green girl :) and have made my own mind up on all the "revews" i've read. THERE ALL BULL SHIT.
Now anyone know where I can get hold of a bog stock 2011 ZX10 to beet this mate of mine on. he's already got the shits  with how close we are now.
I love my new ZX10. It scares the shit out of me.

My source tells me the new zx10r got 183.7 hp on the Phil Tainton Dyno...

"Feedback from Kevin Magee testing for Two Wheels, he said on the new model it was the fastest ever production bike on treaded tyres around turn one at Eastern Creek.
It was accelerating quickly and he had to up change through the gears fast to keep ahead of the performance down the straight.
The bike was set up with Michelin Power 1 tyres and 16:40 gearing, stock is 17:39.
He spoke very positive about the bike."

That's a gutsy call mate. You seriously would allow me to ride yr muddaboik at 10/10ths like I ride my racer?? You either are trying for an insurance w/o, or having children has effected your sanity. But, I'm keen. Just have to get my tyre warmer back off a mate and we are good to go. :D

More info from my source...

-------

This is the report from Ken Wootton and the dyno figures from Phil Tainton’s Dyno.

The 2011 Ninja ZX10R requires lots of kilometers to be fully run-in.
This unit had 2,600 ks the highest kilometer version test so far in the world.
Note the comments on tieing the bike down, also the comments on switching off the traction system.

Running in; The BMW hp is from 60 miles = 167.9hp the BMW fully run in at 2,600 miles at Fast Bikes had 171.5hp.

Fit the BMW Power Boost Kit ECU the power jumps to 186hp. Do some other work the BMW can get to 188hp in MCN.

The 2011 Ninja ZX-10R starts at 400 miles 175hp upto 1,500klms at 2,600klms it is doing 183.74hp. Add the effect of the RAM air which we know works this would be 193.74hp

Do the math on the power to weight and the zx10r is suddenly the best even against the cheaters.

In case you did not know the Honda in the last years Austest did 178hp 20 more than the stock Honda at 158hp.

The Yamaha R1 actually weights 216kg, the press in Australia have never weighted the R1, keep putting in the brochure weight.

Cant trust them to tell the truth…..
The R1 is also one of the lower powered the test in Motociclismo even with the Slip on Akrapovic Pipes.

See the Yamaha story in AMCN and Rapid on their FX bikes, never seen some much bull written.
The NINJA ZX-10R leading the sales figures in the 1st Quarter.

Only "real" Pro Stock bikes are the 2011 Ninjas.

Cycle World, a U.S. mag. measured stock rear wheel HP at 165 at 11,800 RPM on the new ZX10. They set the fastest quarter mile time ever tested by this magazine by a stock bike at 149 mph at 9.73 seconds. Apparently the U.S. bike has some restrictions above 11,000 rpm, due to emmission standards and after they were removed and a fuel module was put in place they got 190.7 hp at 13,000 rpm and a quarter mile time of 9.4 seconds at 154 mph. See the may issue of Cycle World at www.cycleworld.com. The only reason they are loosing races in the world superbike is they have shit riders. If Casey Stoner was their rider they would have been on the podium with the old ZX10.
To compare the BMW to the Kawasaki is hard and depends on your prejudices. It's all with the rider as Yamaha is kicking ass right now. Like Rob Muzzy said, "Kawasaki has forgotten how to win races, you do so by hiring a winning team". Cheers.

Yep.......the bike is only half the battle.....u need sum1 on it with big kahunas to push it to its limits and thats where u need to spend the Cash Robbo to get some1 to do that.
Perosnally I love the look of the Beema.....they make a great looking bike....but for value for money....the ZX10 just ticks all the boxes

hard choice.

It appears our source has upset the folk at BMW - and the've been looking in here.. :D :kuda:

From mcnews.com.au

http://www.mcnews.com.au/NewsArchives/2 ... il/BMW.htm

-- BMW respond to rumour mongering concerning S 1000 RR power outputs

BMW Statement Begins...

It has been brought to our attention that a motorcycle competitor has been making statements that are false and misleading. This is in reference to the standard specification of the BMW S 1000 RR.

The claims being made relate to the BMW S 1000 RR being modified either for press or customer motorcycles to create additional horsepower. The individual has approached media, stake holders, dealers as well as people in the racing community with some of the following claims:

* BMW are fitting non-standard ECU (electronic control unit) to press bikes to gain increased performance.
* BMW fit non standard ECU components during the first service of customer bikes.
* BMW S 1000 RR does not come standard with Gear Shift Assistant (quick shift)

We would like to clarify the following points;

* The only bike to receive a non standard ECU was during a specific press event where media were offered to ride a 2011 S 1000 RR fitted with genuine BMW HP ECU and HP Race Exhaust at Phillip Island and Eastern Creek circuits (this modified motorcycle was never used on public roads). This was fully disclosed, the purpose of this event was to promote these products. The modified motorcycle in question is now Glenn Allerton's race bike that is leading the ASBK Championship.
* We have dyno charts showing the difference between the standard and HP equipped bikes. This reflects what independent media dyno tests have also shown (given that dyno readings vary from dyno to dyno).
* All other press and customer bikes have only ever been fitted with the standard BMW ECU.
* Gear Shift Assistant is and always has been standard on all Australian specified S 1000 RR models.
* As of this week, Race ABS and DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) are also standard as the base model S 1000 RR has been discontinued.

We understand that performance figures of the S 1000 RR are considerably higher than the competition, but this has always been confirmed during independent media comparisons. Please see attached dyno chart by reputable tuner, Phil Tainton, showing comparison between a standard 2010 customer S 1000 RR (in red) and the 2011 HP equipped S 1000 RR in blue.

Ends...
