Re: Some say it was bound to happen...
Not good news but at 250kph you gotta be happy to come out still walking.. time and some surgery will heal, then once you get the bike back running, move those levers down!
A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"

Holy shit Wattie,
that must have been a scary moment for you. Good to hear your okay and walked away relatively unscathed. Just the thought of coming off at turn 1 at the grandpa pace I ride through it gives me shivers, let alone at the pace you hammer through there. I hope you're able to get the all clear to get back on the bike for the next FX round.

Geeze mate, the way you were talking it up, I thought the bike was going to be in a bad way.
I've never crashed at that speed... hell, I don't even have a bike that will do that speed. However, from personal experience, crashing sucks arse.
I'd say you're pretty damn lucky.

Re: Some say it was bound to happen...
I saw the dust as I was coming down the straight and thought this could be nasty, by the time I arrived at turn 1 I saw the rubber and slide marks on the road just past the tip in point and then saw Wattie up and walking towards his bike which was a great sight
The bike was way down near the end of the drag strip, I don't know how many metres but it slid a bloody long way and wasn't as damaged as it could have been....very lucky all around I'd say
I mention to Wattie how much family time he'll be enjoying now
