It's one of those stupid illogical thing's
The MRA in Victoria fought bloody hard for footpath parking and we will keep fighitng bloody hard to retain it :) It is kind of illogical as motorbikes take up fark all footpath space , prob is for councils is there is no revenue in it for them. That being said, we are finding here in Melbourne (increasingly alas) that some people take it to mean they can park their (scooters normally) in a small side street and in a manner as to take up half or more of the footpath and if anything is going to kill footpath parking here in Vic, that'll do it.

I have come to love footpath parking in Melbourne. Don't want this thread to be hijacked but its pretty cool. Most of my work is always around the CBD so footpath parking would have been ideal.

oh well, something has to give. Who knows some good suburbs I can research rents and stuff?

Can anyone recommend nice suburbs to live in Adelaide so I can research some house prices/ rent et. al? Nice to haves include, proximity to freeways, beaches? etc. Should not be more than 40 kms from the CBD
I lived in Westbourne Park?? The first time and the second time out on the beach at.......faaark, mental blank........Fuck, can't remember it's name, one of the locals will know it's name, it's the suburb putting onto the shipping port entry with the big breakwater. The sailing club is there. Anyway, both were nice for different reasons. The beach was my favourite spot.

Thanks, North Haven. Although, Semaphore and Largs are also top spots.

Lived in Adelaide for 12 years. Went for 1 year and forgot to leave. It was a hard place to earn a living as a self-employed vet in the 80s and 90s, but I loved the lifestyle. I could imagine moving back in the future... but the riding is better in Victoria. Adelaide Hills are good, but they don't go on and on for kilometre after kilometre unless you go up and down the Corkscrew Rd or do the Chain of Ponds loop repeatedly :D . But if you like the Outback... ride through the Flinders and the Gammons. And there's always Lake Gairdner... :kuda:

i live in the western suburbs (near port adelaide) and would recommend it! 10kms to the city (15 mins), 5kms to the beach and the hills are only 20mins away 8) Oh and freeways? what freeways? . The house prices and rent is a little higher than in the north and south but not too bad....

I work in the CBD and the parking isnt too bad fair few motorbike parks about the place, altough i get in around 7-7:30 in the morning.

nice suburbs to look in IMO are cheltenham, woodville, semaphore, port adel etc in the west. Burton, Mawson lakes, and paralowie if you feel safe around seiko  in the north. Eastern suburbs are for the rich :P all pretty alright and the south is too far from the hills  but you could check out Glenelg and surrounds

life is good down here :kuda:
