News reports

Post by DaveGPz »

Just pondering; watching the news and wondering why news reports of car crashes almost always say "the car left the road/hit a tree/hit a lamp post/failed to negotiate the corner" etc, but always say "the motorcyclist lost control of his/her motorcycle and hit..."? Always tragic, but can any one else see a bias or should I just renew my subscription to paranoids anonymous?

I saw a report in our local paper a few weeks ago about an accident at an intersection in Richmond NSW, that I witnessed.
It is a fairly busy "T" intersection in a 60 kph zone and during the day very rarely does anybody get above 50 let alone 60. The accident was only minor with no injuries, but the reporter quoted Police..... "Police have asked motorists to slow down and take it easy" I bet the reporter made it it up, trying to make a story out of nothing
What they should have said..... "Police have asked dickheads not to pull out of side streets into oncomming traffic"
