Riding to work there's a bike pulled up on the footpath on the other side of the road.
Pull up to see if the guy needs a hand, and he's had an accident.
Learner on a CBRRRRRRR.
ZERO GEAR except kevlar jeans.
Still in shock, adrenalin flowing, shaking a bit. Bloody fingers, bloody knee where the kevlar broke, arm and shoulder but not too bad really, in fact, bloody amazing that's the only injuries he has. As we chatted and the adrenalin started to subside as he relaxed things started hurting more.
He was coming down a hill too close to the car in front and not paying attention. Car turns left into a driveway, he locks the rear, tries to steer around the car and the rear slides left and tip him off to the right. He rolls 5 m down his lane near the center line, car passes on the other side of the road

Truck drive helps him get the bike up and off the road and heads straight off, I arrived a few mins later.
I stayed with him for about half an hour making sure he was ok, going through what happened, looking over the damage to his bike and discussing how to get it on the road and get him home, working out his wiring problem, lecturing him about how good this crash was, how lucky he is, how he's foolish to have no gear on (he had his gloves in his bag

When I had a go at him about no gear, he said he didn't want to be late for uni (an hours ride)

Anyways, lucky guy, because hopefully he's learnt his lesson and it didn't hurt too much.
