funeral and wedding songs

Post by mohawk miss »

Well, due to personal events, this topic came up quite recently. Songs suggested for funerals and or weddings were quite diverse with one of my sisters requesting Elvis singing "hunka hunka burnin love" just as the coffin slides through the crematorium curtains. Wedding song of choice seemed to be "highway to hell" :?

So, what songs do you guys want at your wedding or funeral, or both?

me-
wedding - "i'm on my way" by the proclaimers or "the butterfly ball" by dio
funeral - "the galaxy song" by monty python

Wifey's gram had Down down, deeper and down at her funeral.

At our wedding we chose a song and produced a compilation CD suggesting the correct track. We were told ther CD did not have track selection and just played from track one. Track one was "What's love got to do with it; Tina Turner" We chose a different CD.

My first wedding I got married to TISM's - mystery of the artist explained..

The older folk there that could understand the chorus - didn't look impressed - it was funny though..
The ex wife chose The Wonderstuff's - Its ya money I'm after baby...
Can't understand why that didn't last...

This time around I chose Alice Coopers - Welcome to My Nightmare.
Motley Crew - Kick start my Heart
and Tism - Theres gunna be sex tonight..

We had Etta James - At Last as our first dance.

I absolutely love Sarah McLachlan's voice, i could see that as something to sign off on.

I decided eons ago if I ever got married it would be to Billy Thorpe's Most people I know think that i'm crazy, and I wanted to wear shorts and thongs :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIWrZfDT5IQ as for a funeral song, my brother had Hunters and Collectors song that Paul McDermott sings really well too, throw your arms around me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H2Dl4bfySM
