Be careful who you insure with!
Be careful who you insure with!
I slid my bike out on a corner coming back from Phillip Island watching the superbikes. No biggie, i was fine, just a few scratches down the left side of my bike with a broken front indicator etc. We rode from the Island to Jindy that day. A big ride. Anyway, I promply inform my insurer upon my return to Sydney and drop it off to their repairer 2 days later. Today i phone up the repairer after not hearing anything for 2 weeks and they inform me after finally locating my paperwork that they have not even finalised the quote! (meaning they haven't even started it no doubt)
I then phone my insurer asking what is going on and even they were a little shocked at this but informed me that these guys (at Asquith) are their only repairers in the State! I was shocked, but immediately realised why it was taking so long. I mean it doesn't take 2 weeks to email off a quote to someone, and if you are that busy then you should palm the work off to someone else! I will now have to wait at least another month i guess before i will be riding again as they haven't even ordered the parts or anything yet. As you can imagine i'm a bit pissed off.
Now i've been careful not to name the insurer here as i read the forum rules and they don't like you slagging off a business for legal reasons. Ok fair enough. But as soon as i get my bike back i'll be switching to QBE whom all my riding mates are with and who promply fix damaged or written off bikes, as well as having more than one repairer in the state! Grrr,
Ash

if i insured my ride it would probably be taken to Collide-a-Scope for repairs... they do good work if the money is right

Often a polite but assertive conversation with one of the managers, "telling" them what is going to happen will mostly deliver the result you require.

Well i've never had to make a claim before so just did as i was told. I knew a girl named Amy once. She was a bitch too.

Slightly different experience, as mine was a write-off.
Two days after making the claim via phone, bike was picked up and taken to Collide-a-Scope for assessing.
Assessor called three days later confirming the write-off, cheque for agreed value (less $400 excess) arrived a week later.
My 2¢ worth ...

I've spent over 40 years of my life riding bikes .... the rest of it, I wasted ..
