New ZX-2R

Post by mipearson »

I upgraded from my broken Suzi Across to a ZX-2R 2000 model (complianced '03) earlier this week. I'm bloody loving it.

Picked it up from Peter Stevens in Melboure CBD on Tuesday. Took it down Batman Avenue on the way back to work, and wow. Just wow. It was a bit stiffer than the Across to steer, but it just didn't want to let go of the road, which was a change from the Across's "I'm about the lose the back end" soggy suspension feeling.

Goes like the clappers, too. For a 4-stroke 250, that is. Especially when I wind it past 8.

Turns out there's a megacycle pipe on the back, too, which makes it just that much noisier. I had somebody give me a dirty look as he was trying to talk into his phone while I was pulling out of the car park...

Only complaints are the sitting position, which is a bit cramped for me at six feet. Also, the speedo on my model seems to be a bit optimistic - I've been driving / riding for over four years, and when it said 80 I'm sure it meant 70.

I'm grinning from ear to ear. There's a netrider.org.au ride coming up this Sunday, and I'm counting down the days.

u gotta love the zx2. i got one myself.

i agree with the speedo.
every time i get on the road it tells me i'm speeding :? :?

she's got a lot of options with suspension, have a play and see what works best for you.

and at 6 foot 4 inches tall.
i agree she's a bit cramped.

cheers, vince
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

G'day mate and welcome.
Your right about the speedo, every modern Kwaka I've ridden with a cable driven speedo, (baby zzr's, monster zzr's, and numerous 7r's, a 6r and several 9r's) read about 10% happy.

Its goos to keep your mind occupied while cruising along
It is far better to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even if chequered with failure, than to take rank with those who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, as they live in grey twilight that knows no victory nor defeat.
