Bike hire in LA....

Post by Disco »

Well after much protest me and the misses are finally tying the knot at the end of the year  ....

We booked it last week 10 night's in LA 5 night's in vegas where we are getting married and then another 4 in Hawaii as a wedding gift from the inlaw's :kuda:

The question is has anybody hired a bike in LA?....I really want to hire one whilst I'm there and do a day ride..

Any particular ride's I should try and do in that day (we will be based in anaheim) would like to include maybe a cruise thru hollywood 8) ...

Also is it as easy as hiring a car over there?....Any hint's or tip's would be appreciated...As i'm pretty sure my life is gunna go downhill after Vegas

I've hired a few cars in the states and my advice is make sure you read the policies don't rely on what they tell you. The other thing, twice they hit me with extra fees on returning the car for no reason but because they could. I was dropping them off at airports and didn't have the time to argue the point and let it go. that was my US car hire experience.

Anaheim is South of L.A. about 45 miles. The freeway system in that area is amazing, unfortunately they outgrew it 40 years ago and it's a parking lot. Driving in L.A. is a joke and trying to drive through Hollywood would be like swimming in your waters covered in blood. Finding a good riding area would also be very hard as the good twisty's are a long ways away from where you are, (Anaheim). Do the tourist thing, Disneyland is right there in Anaheim. See Knots Berry farm and the labrea tar pits. If you want Hollywood take a tour bus. Ask the people at the hotel you are staying at what to do and where to go. L.A. County plus Orange County has a population of 17,000,000 people all cramed together and madder than hell at having to live in such a shitty place. Riding a Motorcycle in that area would be a bad idea if you are not familiar with California drivers. The drinking laws are very strict if caught drinking while driving so be sober when driving, (another good reason for a tour bus). Good luck and enjoy, it can be fun, but be careful. Are you sure the people buying you this trip are not trying to kill you?

Thank's for that oldman although not really what I wanted to hear....We are doing the whole disneyland, adventureland, universal and knottsberry farm already :kuda: ....Oh and the outlaw's are only paying for the hawaii bit we have to pay for the rest ourselve's :x

There is actually a fair bit of paperwork to make the weeding legit in Vegas....That's also why we are there for the 5 day's as that's how long it takes to generate the certificate and make it legal.....Will be my folk's the misses' folk's and us so will be a very intimate wedding with the cheesiest Elvis we can find :P
