MRI Sunday a.m. courtesy of my neighbour. He says films will come home with me that morning to show neurosurgeon latest 14th March, earlier if my Dr. Can manage a favour.

OK, MRI was completed Sunday AM, with it showing blown L4 and absolutely faaaarked L5,S1. I came back to work today, but my boss is cool if I need to take some half days or do some work from home on some days. I am going to stay here today until at least 3pm and tough it out. Then I might go home for a lay down. I have finally managed to get some moderation in the pain relief. They were either drugging me off my head (Read some of my posts over the last few weeks and you may pick up on it.) to the point where I didn't know what I was saying or doing, or not enough, so Iwas in screaming agony. Neither of which are all that pleasant to be honest.
The cocktail is something like this from memory. Bedtime 100mg Voltarin, 10MG Endone, 10MG Diazapam, 2XPanadol. Morning is 25mg Voltarin, 5mg Endone, 2 X Panadol. lunch is 25mg Voltarin, 5mg Endone. Afternoon late is 25mg Voltarin, 5mg Endone, 2 X Panadol.

This will hopefully keep me on a level playing field until the Neurosurgeon can tell me the good news on the 16th of March!!!

That's a hell of a cocktail they have put you on. Endone and Diazepam will certainly help you sleep no wonder you posted a few cryptic messages if they had you on stronger stuff than this. Try not to get hooked on the Endone for too long though, I hear it doesn't take long to form an addiction to it as it's basically morphine in a pill.

Yeah, i know it's a dangerous drug and I am only chewing down the recommended doses. But, I must admit already the effect lessons each time you take them. The first ones I took knocked my sox off, now I need ten and a half bottle of bundy before they kick in!!! Jokes folkes...I don't drink at all, so I am really not doing anything other than instructed by the medicos. I also have an addictive personality so I am watching myself carefully. You'll know when I am on the endone/diazapam combo though......check out some of my recent posts!!!! they are not spelling errors....they are incapable of typeing errors...... I hope that with this cocktail, my body will settle over the next week or two and allow me to slow down and stop them.

Although, last night i was in mega pain, so i doubled the endone and the diazapam and had the best night's sleep in over three weeks. Felt great most of the day and only had to have the prescribed dose all day today.

Findings:

Lower thoracic region

L2, L3,p levels: appear normal


L4/5 level: minor loss of signal is seen with a moderatesized left posterolateral disc protrusion which is hyperintense consistent with a relatively acute phenomenon. This indents the anterioir margin of the thecal sac and posteriorly displaces and compresses the proximinal portion of the left L5 nerve root.

Further laterally, there is a small amount of disc protrusion to the lowermost portions of both L4 foramina but no high grade foraminal compromise is identified.

Mild facet joint hypertrophy is seen


L5/S1 level: narrowing and desiccation is seen with minor retrolithesis of L5 on S1. The disc protrudes posteriorly but this occurs predominantly into the anterior epidural fat space and there is significant displacement of the S1 nerve root origins. The disc material contacts the anterior margin of the right S1 nerve root without dispacing the structure or significantly compressing it.

Further laterally, there is disc protrudion at the lowermost portion of the right L5 foramen and this contacts the interior margin of the nerve without significantly compressing it.

Facet joints demonstrate degenerative change.

Translation = moderate disc bulge towards the back left of the thoracic spine, consistent with sudden occurance. This causes a bulge causing pressure on the end of the L L5 nerve

Further laterally, there is a small amount of disc protrusion to the lowermost portions of both L4 foramina but no high grade foraminal compromise is identified.
Translation = further to the side, small amount of disc bulge at the lower bits of the L4 vertebrae holes but not appearing to be causing an issue.

Mild facet joint hypertrophy is seen
Translation = some joint shrinkage but not much

L5/S1 level: narrowing and desiccation is seen with minor retrolithesis of L5 on S1. The disc protrudes posteriorly but this occurs predominantly into the anterior epidural fat space and there is significant displacement of the S1 nerve root origins. The disc material contacts the anterior margin of the right S1 nerve root without dispacing the structure or significantly compressing it.
Translation = shrinkage with minor vertebral displacement of L5/S1. Disc bulges towards the rear mostly in the bit where the ligaments are. The bulge is touching the front egde of the S1 nerve but has not moved it or squashed it much

Further laterally, there is disc protrudion at the lowermost portion of the right L5 foramen and this contacts the interior margin of the nerve without significantly compressing it.
Translation = at the side, disc sticking out at the lowest right L5 vertabrae holes touching the inside edge of nerve but not squashing it

Facet joints demonstrate degenerative change.

Worst two days in the last four weeks. Ended up back in hospital yesterday. It's the original upper chest pain the had me writhing on the bathroom floor and caused the lower bck to get grumpy. Medications work, but then neither can i. They did all these tests, couldn't pinpoint it, told me to just keep medicating. Kicked me back out refering ne to my gp fir an ultrasound as next stepn.
