How much to ask for when selling my bike?
I am interviewing for a new job that requires me to have a car... I cant afford to have both a car and a bike (at the moment) so I will need to get rid of the bike... The bike in question is a Black 05 ZX10R, unmodified except for a Yoshi muffler. Everything on the bike is as expected, no damage, a bit of wear as it has 48k on the clock, but very very tidy. How much should I sell it for, I am thinking around the 7.7k price range looking at bikepoint.com.au ... That is the price on R1's older than that, there are only 2 ZX10R's on there so its hard to tell...
The world is round. It has no point.

Hi mate,
I usually check the market value of cars/bikes in question and post asking price slightly higher than that. go to www.redbook.com.au
then click on bike research. there you will be able to select your make, model and year and it will tell you an indicative market value for your bike. That should be a good start.

Re: How much to ask for when selling my bike?
There doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason behind pricing. The red book is way off what people are asking or actually selling the bike for.
Some 04 05's are being advertised for $10000 with 38000 ks on the clock.
I looked at a 04 zx10r that's done 22,000....it was very neat clean no marks, carbon Yoshi..nice bike..He was prepared to take $7300 for it. He did have it advertised originally for $8500 but got no buyers.
Other interesting bits were that no seller answers emails...phone calls only when selling. Apparently way too many scammers....from what I can understand it's reached a ridiculous level.
Bike shops are ringing sellers offering stupid money for the bikes...like $5000 etc and trying to convince the seller that that's all they'll get for the bike.....I heard this from least 5 sellers. Mind you I never saw a bike shop offer less than $8990 for ZX10r's. (most were $9990) One bike shop offered to sell me an 07 with twin yoshi's, power commander and 6000k's but no rego for $10,000 plus on road. I laughed and told them I could buy the same bike privately for $8500. So then they said I could have it for $9000 unreg but they would be making a lose...what a load of crap. These guys must think everyone's stupid. Then he told be that buying a private bike you don't know if it's under finance or a repairable write off...so I got a $38 v-check done and it tells you the whole history of the bike.
So yeah...$7700 is a fair price but I would add $400 and expect to be knocked down by that much..but the market seems a bit depressed ATM and so it's a buyers market so if you can hold out a while till people recover from all the fire, floods, famine, tornado's and earthquakes it might swing your way.

I live with fear everyday but on weekends she lets me ride.

I wish I could wait, if I get this job I need a car in a month
Might just have to buy an even cheaper dunger to tide me through

If you need to hide it and pretend you sold it, I'll make enough room in my garage for it.

Recommend you wait till you have the job before you sell the bike, not much help to ya but it's my best offer, other than perhaps outbidding Paul and i'll offer $60 and i'll even pick it up

A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"
