Instead of fining me, he looked at it and said that the bike couldn't have been much fun to ride witht he tyre worn as it was and he said that he reckoned I should get a new one, and that was that, no fine, no details taken, just some good advice.

Truth be known probably one of the lazy ones getting paid for doing nothing but least it was to your advantage.

Tis nice to see them being discretionary.Rather than booking for every nit pick,which drives everyone up the wall and does F.A for police/rest of us relations.
Was with my daughter doing her L's in the cage when we momentarily pulled over into a no stopping zone in Homebush Bay on a Sunday,we stopped because she'd just stuffed up the turn a bit and i wanted to explain what she'd done wrong so we stopped you could have fired a shotgun in any direction and not hit a soul,place was totally deserted.Stopped for like 3 seconds and WoooWoooWoo behind us.Booked with a ticket written up (For me!!Damn it !!! ) for not supervising.I wore it because,im in the wrong , but gee i though just a caution would have been a fair cop for the situation,wasn't exactly holding up or impeding traffic Instead its a fine and points.Aw well

My impression was that even with Ls, the person behind the wheel is responsible for the car. End of story. Unless they've changed it.

For such a minor offense (considering where it was,different if it was in the middle of the city in peak hour on a weekday ).Sunday afternoon,no people or cars around ,back street,motor still running,indicator on.
Cop didn't say whether he should be booking her instead.He had the ticket written out and handed it to me,that was the first i knew about who was getting it.Lucky me!Lesson learnt.

Ive had my fair share of good cop bad cop, as im sure most of us have, (and its good to acknolwedge the good ones) but i find it 'interesting' that out of all the traffic passing he 'chooses' to pull over the bike..

Your as bad as my ex wife, I'd buy her flowers and she asked what Id done wrong lol!

Hi, given the amount of cop/police "bashing" that goes on on this forum, I thought it would be good to tell what happenned to me this morning.

It's only the stupid decisions that the minority (usually HWY) come up with that people usually complain about. It's good to hear you came accross one of the many good cops who use common sense, which resulted in a positive outcome ie. you getting the message and fixing the problem without needing to be fined.

Well that came back to bite me on the arse. I got a ticket yesterday for doing 85 in what used to be an 80 zone, but has recently been dropped to a 60 zone. $360 and 4 points for missing a newly placed sign.

ouchies this new 50K stuff is a PITA too.. used to be it was just side streets but now roads which are not exactly quiet back roads have dropped in speed by a big amount

Government workers don't do anything anyway... I should know I just started a contract with a government department in Victoria....

To write the letter I have to take it to court which involves paying $75 court costs, so I would say there is a hefty processing fee already Tim.


I need to do a bit of research and find out when exactly the speed limits changed etc before I decide how to deal with it. I passed 4 more cop cars within a 5km stretch after being booked yesterday and 3 of them were HWY so I'd like to know what they were all doing in there. The last cop car I passed was hauling arse and only put his disco lights on after he had passed me which looked like he was just having a bit of fun and got caught out since none of the 4 cars ahead of him were in any hurry.

It's hit and miss with the police. I don't mind them at all generally. Passed by a few, gave them the thumbs up and they were cool.

Besides, laws are unfortunately laws regardless of whether we like it or not and most cops just follow the law. In the case of a tyre it's also pretty dangerous if it's over worn.
