yea this is a big muther, my parents are in cairns, friends are in innisfail and my brother is in townsville, they are all playing russian rulette to see who is getting hit the worst, monday it was townsville, yesterday it was cairns now it is innisfail, I was thinking they should start taking bets hahaha
Though poor innisfail they copped Larry in 2006, now they look like getting it again! At least most of them will have new roof's guess this will test if the builders were shonky or not.....

hahahah yea heaps of evac centers, yea my fam have a few friends in redlynch at least it isnt to close to the coast my parents are going to a friends place in Edge Hill, not far away from their but their place is on the hill and its a brick place so a bit more solid, good chance parents place will be part of the compolsary evac zone and they dont wanna leave the dog behind. They are freakign otu a little but their friends place should be pretty safe

I arrived in Richmond (500km west of Townsville) 3 weeks ago and thankfully missed all the floods in Qld but they are predicting that it will still be classed as a cyclone when it gets here tomorrow night  .

The govt has closed all the schools north of Mackay (even here in Richmond) and a lot of business (banks etc) with regional offices in Townsville have closed. I'm going to put away anything that can blow away, tie the trailer down as there is not a lot else that can be done.

Hopefully it weakens when it crosses the coast as it will cause an awful lot of damage given its current size and intensity.

Thoughts to those who are on the coast and hope you listen to the warnings and evacuate early if you're in a vulnerable area.

Well at least Andrew is only two door's down from the Pub :D
gotta be happy about that!
As for Earlville Shopping Centre...I would have thought that being low lying and close to Trinity Inlet, it would be submerged in the Stormsurge FFS!

Yep just speaking to some friends in trinity beach cairns and they are pretty panicked ATM.

All the evac centers are only graded for cat 3 at the most, so everyone is farked m
No matter where they are. My friends house is on a side of a hill about 500mm inland from the water and they have alf of it on stilts. The verandah is on stilts, west and has a pool on it. They reckon that half of the house is toast. Windows taped up ( boards won't do shit in a cat 5). They are across the road in a mates under ground room ( just the way the house was dug into the side of a mountain when built but even there they are still gunna lay under matresses and say their prays.

Doesn't sink in until you talk to someone up there

I didnt know the evac centers were only graded for cat 3... that seems pretty stupid....

Apparently all government buildings in the last 5 years that coudl be big enough to be an evac center were built to with stand catagory 5 cyclones.

hahaha Just spoke to my mum and they are in Edge hill and my dad was just going for a swim in their pool. They are sweet got a couple of cases of beer and a few bottles of wine. What else do you need?

Well the mate is down stairs in the laundry at Redlynch with four slabs, three eskies, two with ice and beer and 1 with water.
He has removed the batteries from his vehicles and wrapped them in plastic bags, 4WD is loaded up just in case and he has enough food for a week.
Being the good mate that I am, I told him it wasn't enough....
Now he has six slabs of beer and a mattress on his head
Seriously though.....him and his missus are shitting and we've all been through Jason (pissant) Rona (nth of us and strong) and get this......
Cyclone Steve :D Cat three and knocked over a lot of my palm trees and plants FFS
I don't know where these fuckheads get there info but I have been watching the rain radar ALL day
and the eye has been following the little black line all the way to saddle mountain, all day FFS....not wsw...directly west!!!!!!!!!
