why is the pushbike riders catered for with special lanes when they don't contribute to the cost (ie no licence no reg no insurance costs etc) when can the motorcyclist get specially marked filter lanes at traffic lights and stop signs
Nostradamus probably got it right

that has always baffled me as to why its bus only?! makes sense to be a bus lane considering the amount of cabs and shit in it

Only a couple of simple ones for me -
CTP green slips, show me the evidence that explains why I pay more for my bike than I do for my car but do about 5 times as many kilometres in my car than my bike. The last time I checked bike riders come of second best in at fault accidents so aren't fully covered. (Only $5000 I believe)
Why should motorcyclists pay tolls or at least pay a reduced toll to cars.
Free parking for all motorcycles and able to park on footpaths like they do in Victoria where the footpath is wide enough to allow the bike to park without impeding on pedestrian traffic.

Most importantly - ban cyclists riding 3 d 4 anwide up the old road, any road for that matter.

Educate the police force on what constitutes defensive riding as taught by the RTA. As Phil says, getting away from the lights is not dangerous, it's the best place to be. Occasionally breaking a law so you can put yourself in a safer place on the road makes sense. eg. If you are in traffic and you have no escape route from a rear ender then lane split your way to safety while the cars aren't moving.

When I did my instructors license the Chief Riding Instructor for NSW (Dennis Ayoub) advocated all of this to us but then qualified it with the point that a cop would probably still book you because they don't understand motorcycle safety well enough.

...and easier, more affordable and more frequent access to track days will allow more people to get their jollies in a controlled environment rather then on the road. You can do this by reintroducing meaningful competition to the market in NSW rather than maintaining the current monopoly by ECRD.

I lived in Switzerland for a while and our village had undercover bike parking. Like bus shelters with no seats. Pushies or motorbikes. Like to have that here.
Reduced rego. If more people ride there will be less need to build more freeways.
Let us use bikelanes. Even at a reduced speed would be OK. Don't go that fast filtering anyway.
That is why God made fast motorcycles, Bubba.... Hunter S. Thompson.

My last speeding fine was for similar to this. Being squeezed by a car on my arse and one to the right not staying in his own lane. Then I get pulled in by a chick hiding behind a power pole in front of the setting sun. Almost ran the twit over when she stepped in front of me.

I'm liking the response guys and girls. Through these specific examples, we can turn them into broader, strategic type stuff. E.g. We feel that government and law enforcement don't understand or perhaps don't want to understand the practicalities of motorcycling and we see this in x,y,z specific examples. So be as broad or specific as you like cos it all adds up. I think it would be really good if people have ideas about rider education and community education. So, how do we make new riders more prepared. What policies do and don't work in that regard. As well as how we can improve our image to the non-riding community? So that a) everyone gets on a little better out there through better understanding, and b) potential ways to make riding more attractive to everyone.
