Shamelessly stolen from advrider, but thought it was worth sharing.

InsureMyRide kick starts campaign for cheaper dirt bike rego in NSW

Join our good friends at InsureMyRide
Specialist motorbike insurance provider InsureMyRide has launched a campaign to introduce a dirt bike Recreational Registration Scheme in NSW, and they’re asking for support from the motor cycle fraternity to help make it happen.
Here at MCA we have petitions in-store which you can sign next time you visit or you can jump on to InsureMyRide's website and download a petition form which you, your family and friends can all sign, then post to InsureMyRide at Unit B, 12 Frederick Street, St Leonards, NSW 2065, by 30th January, 2011.
To read all about this campaign and how you can make sure your signature makes a difference, click here.
The crux of it is this is resting predominantly on the MCCNSW, but every bit of help they can get is great.

agree 100%. Its been available in Victoria now for years, and works very well down there.

No reason at all why it could not be introduced in Noo Sarf Whales.

Because the gumbyment isn't stupid enough to let even the slightest amount of revenue slip through their fingers
See here, young man,
From Walgett to the sea,
From Conroy's Gap to Castlereagh,
There's none can ride like me.

The Rec.Rego scheme would actually bring in money for them - its not like every trailbike rider would just change to cheap rego, there are many strict conditions involved with rec.rego - and for most punters who use their trailbikes as a true dual-purpose bike, rec.rego is basically useless for them.

Blaming everything on the govt being tightarses is too simplistic.
