Mattyv's new toy.
Hey guys, so i fianlly sold the shadey black 7, and in the mean time i've got this... Makes any 10r or gixxer thoe I've ridden seem civilised. Not really as brave as i thought, but I'm learning.

It is far better to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even if chequered with failure, than to take rank with those who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, as they live in grey twilight that knows no victory nor defeat.

Don't despare, I've still got The origional green 7 and the one with the 10 motor going in. i origionally got into bikes coz i couldn't afford boats. Things change.
For those interested it's a 17'6 everinham shallow V by Bruce everingham. We're running in 6L Prostock up here on Brissie river and at Bundy. And yeah possum, it's similar to ski racer, but shorter in length and faster for it's engine class, but then again it it doesn't leave nice water to ski on when you're one it. Ski race inboards sit relatively deeper to lay a nice wash, but require massive HP to move that much water.

Nice toy. 100MPH on water is like 180 on land. I raced a 150, (meaning maximum cubic inches) inboard hydroplane in the early 1960's, what a riot, it was 13 and 1/2 feet long and we could, with smooth water, hit around 100 MPH on the straights. We started out with a flathead ford 60, with three stromberg 97's, Edelbrock heads, Isky full race cam, racing pistons, ported and relieved intake and exhaust, (relieved is a flathead thing) and alcohol, (for the fuel you twit). We then went to a Ford falcon motor which was an overhead valve 6 cylinder with the intake manifold as part of the head. We had to shave that off and make our own intake manifold to accept three carbs, (I forget what type we used), as well as the normal cams, porting, pistons, etc. Good memories but boat racing is too expensive now with the modular cockpits and all the safety bullshit. Boat racing is the only thing that can equal the thrill of motorcycles, (with the exception of fighter jets). Post more pictures please.

Re: Mattyv's new toy.
Thanks for posting the videos. Got my adrenolin flowing, god those things are fast. It brings back a lot of memories although we did not have anything as powerful as that back when I raced. I'll try and find some old pictures of our old boat and post them.
The scenes at the tables were awsome. That was a big part of the racing to me was the great camp outs by the water. Thanks again. I need two or three Jim's to calm me down after those videos, wow.

Re: Mattyv's new toy.
Bit of an update guys
Starting to go back together. Wll be wet by June at this stage. Exterior paint job won't be done till next winter though.
All the new hardware has arrived from the states and the old stuff is back from powder coaters and will start to go in as soon as I've finished moving house.
