Re: 2011 ZX10R RECALL

Post by grego.77 »

Im going to be the laughing stock amongst all my mates since they ALL ride piano's if Im going to buy one of these. What Australian dealership has mechanics aged over 17? yeah mate lets spend 20k on a new bike with no engine and have 17 year old sticky palmed pimpled faced incompotent wankers do an engine transplant. Iv got better odds riding to the parliment and chanting "Keneallys a whitch!! burn the canadian bitch" in hopes of lowering our greenslips. Hang on... I did do that my 4 wheel drive is still cheaper to insure than my bikes.

The engine swap will be done by Kawasaki not the dealers as they have stopped delivery of all zx10s.
There was only about 20 bikes released to buyers world wide and those 20 had the choice to send it back or get the engine transplanted later. Even the ones the dealers had on the floor went back to Kawasaki.
Its a fine line between it being a recall or "technical hold" as Kawasaki call it.. :-)
In Aus, as there aren't any at dealers yet, its a technical hold.. :kuda:

At least it seems that once they recognised an issue they dealt with it rather than a wait and see approach 8)

Garth.... you lucky bastard!! not bad for a stocker. Rev limiter set to 13k in 6th. He dyno'd at 174 without ram air. I thought yankee models had less restricted emissions/engines? But asking around they supposedly have more? is this true? anyone know the truth? California where I THINK garth lives and purchased his has very strict car emmission laws.

The 'truth' is that there are '48 state' models, and 'Calif' models. The Calif models have charcoal canisters under the seat for the stricter emissions laws that apply in Calif. only. The '48 state' models make a bit more hp as a result, but there is not a lot in it. That is my understanding anyway.....

Fuck it, Kawasaki couldnt tell me when the bikes getting released couldnt tell me what the problem is. Soooo I just bought an R1 pick her up Friday. Put all the shit on me that you like but atleast Yamaha sold me a bike not just a dream. Could be worse I could of bought a red 2 cylinder crank case splitting fuel tank leaking $2000 for a sevice italian made mid life chrisis curing Ducati (supposudly). Might see you boys up at the pass 1 day.
