How loud is too loud?

I was driving my car today, and beeped my horn at a bloke walking his dog.

He had his iPod in his ears and didnt even hear me.

How loud should i be having my ipod when i walk my dog?

Well Mr Wattie, I would say that the volume of your iPod should be at the level where you can not hear the car but low enough so you can hear your bones breaking when it hits you.

in my previous experience, i have found it vital to have it low enough that when the road captain yells "remember the blind right hander" at me, i hear it.
2 years in a row, i didnt hear him.
