Casey's Bike

Post by aardvark »

The lad recently turned 4. I spent the last month or two completely rebuilding a PW50 I had bought for him. In the lead up to his birthday I asked him what colour he wanted, to which he replied "Red, like Casey Stoner". I wanted to buy blue plastics, but no amount of negotiating could get him to agree to blue.

Last week I took him out to a mates farm. After some quick instruction on how to go and stop, I got him to practice riding around in circles whilst I ran around after him. The circles lasted about a minute. Not being the sprite young thing I used to be, I gave up when he decided that weaving in and out of trees was more his thing.

I may be biased, but the little bugger has more natural talent than his Dad ever had. He spent so long riding the bike around that he complained he was "sore everywhere" the next day. Bought a PW80 for him yesterday.... the price was too good to refuse. That'll sit in the shed until he's old enough.

Hahaha... I might need to. Mine is getting a bit full!

I have to buy some new forks for the PW50. I decided the week before I gave it to him to pull them apart and make sure the springs were ok. As it turns out, someone has removed them at some stage in the past. Makes for a bumpy ride. :)

Mate, I can't afford a 50cc KTM that all the other kids race, so he'll be waiting if he thinks he's going down that path. :)
