I have never been happy with the brakes on my 05 zx10r. I upgraded to braided lines and still not happy.
I had a gsxr600 prior to this, and the brakes were great, so a bit of a disappointment when I got the zx. They have been bled fine, many times by myself, and taken to a bike shop. I replaced the master cylinder rubbers, and it didn't really help either.
One guy at a bike shop said it is just a problem with this model. If so, any ideas of master cylinders that would be a direct replacement, and connect straight up to my braided lines? maybe r1, or gsxr?
Cheers.

Brembo MC works OK but going Nissin calipers makes a huge improvement add braided lines & the combo is a winner

Ah yes, plenty of discussion on that on here.
Calipers appear to be the problem, they work fine for a while and then "go off".
The popular change is to nissin calipers from 06 + zx6r and zx14r.
Cheaper options are cbr600 / 1000 calipers from 05 onwards -with 5mm spacers.. (I went this option.)

Ahh ok, so the calipers are the problem, not the master cylinder.
Do the 06+ zx6r or zx14r calipers bolt straight on? And what would I expect to pay for a set of these, is around $200 or so a reasonable price?
Thanks for the info.

Yep the nissins from zx6r and zx14r are direct bolt on. They are bit exxie though - ebay is your friend.
I bought a set of cbr calipers for $10 US... postage was lot though and ended up costing me about $60 aus landed..
I tried the brembo MC and braided lines with the std calipers and it didn't fix it. I also tried 3 different sets of std zx10r calipers (ppl give em away as there not too good
), all cleaned and serviced, all to no avail.
My std calipers worked fine for for the bikes first 4 years of life then went spongy...
Watties std calipers are still hanging in there...

Re: ZX10R 05 brake feel not great, upgrade options?
I am looking at these calipers: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 0483302262, they are 08 cbr600, do you know if they will fit with the 5mm spacers? Also, did you get the spacers from ebay, if so, can you shoot me a link so I know exactly what I am looking for?
Thanks for all your help.

Yes they will fit. Some caliper come with the spacers as they have them on the bike oem

I fitted the 05 cbr calipers, and after a 5min bleed, the brakes are infinitely better. Very happy, thanks for the advice
