I had hoped Maxwell great success in that race, he is a 1st rate rider but as it seems a 2nd rate human being in respect of this incident.
As Faubel laid still momentarily and just managed to right himself, the last thing he needed was a blow to the head with additional weight of a helmet.
I've experienced a fractured vertebrae and know that all it can take is a small impact to compound such an injury...
I'm sure he regrets his actions now, but for what reasons only he knows.
I wonder if the 'aussie pride' supporters would have accepted if De Angelis ran over to Tomizawa and started laying a boot into him?
Wow... That shows a lot more agro than they showed on TV...
We only saw the last bit of him pushing Faubel, missed the punch at the start..
Not good, not good at all...

After watching that the guy is a tosser IMO....He said after the incident that he looked at him funny so he clocked him ....Faubel was still looking at the ground .....Good lesson on how to go from hero to zero in 10 second's....

Weekend to forget for Hector Faubel after crashing out in the first lap

Hector Faubel’s race ended on the opening lap, following a collision at Siberia corner.
Faubel got a good start from the fourth row of the grid. The 27-year-old Spaniard made up places going into the first three turns, before diving up the inside of Australian rider, Wayne Maxwell, at the Honda Hairpin. Maxwell tried to retake the place by riding around the outside of Faubel at Siberia, but collided with the Marc VDS rider bringing both of them down. Maxwell rejoined the race, but was eventually disqualified and fined for the incident.
Hector Faubel #55: DNF
“What a terrible weekend. I got a good start and managed to make up places in the first few corners. At the hairpin I went up the inside of Maxwell with no problems. At Siberia I had the inside line again and he tried to ride around the outside but ended up leaning on me and bringing us both down. As far as I’m concerned I was on the line and he collided with me. I guess his take on it was different, given his reaction afterwards, but I know I wasn’t at fault. Now I want to put it behind me and focus on the next two races, first Estoril and then my home race at Valencia.”
Michael Bartholemy: Team Manager
“For Hector it was a difficult weekend that ended prematurely when he got caught up in someone else’s crash. I hope he can put this race behind him and focus on a strong performance next time out in Estoril, to build his confidence going into his home race at Valencia.”

In this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjbSx3e5j-Q it looks like Faubel stood it up (for whatever reason) and took out Maxwells back wheel. But that's with a lot of squinting - it's really hard to be sure what happened.
But after seeing Maxwell's response (linked by robracer) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdIAm2yWUXs ...
Faubel was lying on the ground, not even moving, and Maxwell was running towards him. I thought he was just trying to help him / check on him, and then pushed him once he realised he was fine and just fucked his chance at the race, but no - he's running towards a crashed and unmoving racer, who starts getting up as Maxwell reaches him, and he takes a swing and punches him, then pushes him down. Not cool at all. I know emotions are running high, I'm sure he's spent buttloads of cash, years and years of work, etc... but still - that's so far over the line. The dude wasn't even moving when Maxwell started heading for him, to punch him out. There's a bit of biff on the field, and then there's this. This is in another league IMO
Wouldn't be surprised if he's had his one and only chance now - I can't imagine many sponsors wanting anything to do with him now. He's shown himself as a liability

the entire episode is a poor reflection on every Aussie racer out there trying to make an impression on the world stage.
I don't give a fat rat's arse about chest-thumping heroes who think that Maxwell had every right to race over to a bloke lying on the deck, and lay into him with an uppercut. He has no fucking right whatsoever to do that, regardless of the reason for the crash. You just don't do it - ever.
".....shut the gate on this one Maxie......it's the ducks guts !!............."
If I was in a dust up at the pub I'd want Maxwell backing me up!!
It looks on the vidio that Hector Faubel had a small slide & bumped Maxwell. The Hector Faubel statment is utta tripe IMO. I have been racing for longer than I care to remember, But cant think I have ever seen anyone taken out by a rider on the outside, so that is rubbish IMO.
In the imortal works of Chopper Reid " Harden the f##k Australia" & thats what Maxwell did.
