Blowout On The ZX9R

Post by Mikey84 »

Had an awesome day riding through the barossa yesterday with Seiko, zx899r and his missus.

started off like any other ride, just enjoying the scenery taking pic's and enjoying the open road, until 5kms away from williamstown i start to feel the ass end of the 9 start to get a bit loose and wobbly, then i gets worse! unable to turn corners properly and the ass end really shaking around! The meztler M3's Were Fucked!!
ive backed right off while Seiko and zx899r kept cruising for around 2kms until realising im not in their rear view  ive eventually come hobbling up to where seiko and zx899r had pulled over, and after a few laughs and pics we rang up to get a tow back to mt pleasent to get a new tyre. zx899r had left to cruise home with his missus and seiko came with me back to the mechanic.

After arriving, seiko and i walked over to the bakery a couple of shops down to get a feed, when the mechanic came in and said that my brakes were well and trully fucked! metal on metal, piston half hanging out, and the dustcover rooted! so had them fixed and decided to get a new front put on as well 8)

Was a bloody ripper of a day, ended up getting some PR2's at a bloody awesome price!
Lees Spot On Motorcycles - Mt Plesant
$267 rear
$186 Front
$40 to fix the rear brake
:kuda:

Cheers to Daniel (zx899r) and Seiko for all your help :kuda: :kuda: :kuda:

Guess you'll check the tyres and brakes on the next workshop day, hey Mike? :D I made a similar mistake on the GPz1100 over the Great Alpine Road and ended up buying a rear in Myrtleford. I don't try to get "one last trip" out of tyres anymore  .

yer I fell into that "one more" trap .. got about 1000km on the rear that came with my gpz after I bought it (prolly shoulda put a new one on straight away).. on the way home from a PITS run it went pop about 50KM from home.. next time it was new tyre time I didn't prolong the inevitable :)

Nesflash, tubeless tyre kit for around $70 or so sits easily under the pillion seat and be a shitload cheaper than a tow :) No surpise those tires were ratshit by now, you've done a few k's since you bought the bike from me and those are the tires I sold it with :)
A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"
