It's twins! :)

Post by bonester »

Just bought another orange Er6n for my school last night. I bought the first one new last year but this one is in better condition. 6900km. $3500 cheaper than my first one and it was supposed to be cost price. (06 model sold new 09) My original one has around 17000km on it now.
I've been pretty unfair to my original ER to be honest. Never really liked it- harsh suspension, vibey and rattly, shit brakes and freakin dangerous tyres- Dunflops. The latest one is so much better, except the brakes are still shit and evil tyres. Does have the Er6 rattle in the dash too. Rode my original one to Port Douglas and back (3600km return) earlier in the year coz I had some trouble with the ZRX at the time. Rattles drove me nuts.
I bought the latest one in Morayfield last night and rode just over 200km home. Was going to chuck it in the van but it was full of shit from hols I've just been on. Girlfriend drove it home. It is a pity to have to 'schoolify' the new one but they do get dropped occasionally and need to protect it from that. In the pic with three ERs, the black one is on loan from another school. A friend of mine used to own it and it still has the Shinko front I fitted to it years ago.

They make a great learner bike I reckon. What do you do to learner proof them. I can pick the barkbusters (brilliant idea) and I assume their crash bars as well
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

I make crashbars. Take off sidecovers and fit small indicators and remove bellypan as well as headlight covers and plastic sidecovers above footpegs.(crashbars mount here.)If they aren't fitted they can't be damaged. Swingarm bobbins keep axle off ground. Ventura rack keeps tailpiece off ground believe it or not! Dirtbike bars are hard to bend and keep the tank off the ground. Don't help the ergos though. Fit cheapo mirrors too. Had some nasty falls and no paint or panel damage so far. A mate of mine put it down the road at 40km/h on those bloody dunflops. :x Fit really sticky front Shinko, and mid range rear as sticky one in not available in ER rear size. Front has been locked once since sticky front.
