That's true, Ohlins kit *does* seem to multiply in your garage doesn't it.Phil wrote:Maybe bring them over and leave them in my garage for a whilematchan wrote:only on the trackbike, and I've not been able to find a way to make it breed extra ohlins for the rex - yet

If your speaking of Ohlins, i would have said yes up until last Saturday, spent about 40mins on a REX with Ohlins, YES better for sure, but not night and day, bit dissappointed actually i was hoping for huge improvement, you know, soak up ALL bumps but still no float etc, i guess i was expecting too much, to add insult to injury we compared back to back against a XJR1300 Yamaha, both more or less identical in rear end, both same type Ohlins (yellow with hydraulic preload adjuster etc, both only 4 way adjust compression so maybe the other 20 way compession adjust Ohlin is the better one). I have a 1098 Ducati with Ohlins- shit ride, really BAD, revalved and is better but still HARSH, i guess the point is REX stuff is budget BUT still works ok.
One thing, my REX smokes the XJR and the XJR has pipe and power commander and mine is stock as a rock, xjr is better suspended as you would expect, even front is better, REX handls better for me,lot more ground clearance in corners etc and doesnt look like the girls bike the XJR is!!!!
Cheers.

Re: Two types of rear OHLINS for ZRX.
Fully agree with what you are saying Emmet. I reasonably regularly ride a mates XJR, and until I got the Ohlins the Yam handled a little better. What I find is the difference with the Ohlins is that you don't feel the bumps- feel them with the front but they disappear before the back hits them
I was worried that aftermarket suspension would make the bike harsh, but it is a waterbed ride.(which is how my old bones likes it.) Only preload adjustment on the XJR. Pity about the duke. I now want to fix up the front end but not sure what to do and later ZRX stuff is harder to work on than pre 04.

Re: Two types of rear OHLINS for ZRX.
I got hydraulic. Got them from Dan Kyle, on ebay -winstonbraddishbiddle is his user name. Took girlfriend for ride yesterday and dialed up extra preload in seconds. Very handy.
Also had a ride of mates XR1200 yesterday, with Gazi shocks and it is a huge improvement too. No way near as harsh as it was stock. Front still needs doing though.
