I joined the s1000rr forum a while back to have full access to all the pics etc, after hearing about the probs they were having..
Here are a couple of noice ones of what was found on a couple magnetic plugs from the s1000rr..




The top pic was taken from one that had around 6000kms on the motor i think with 3 oil changes

Perfectly placed by the look of it . Never seize up with that oil supply

Small electrical problem...a rod came out the side of the block and knocked the alternator off...

Prolly the original filter wattie, My old mans 5 series BMW came with the following details:
Your first service should occur between 12,000 and 18,000 miles, when we perform your first oil service and vehicle check-over at no charge
At 24 months regardless of miles/km and then every 48 months.......TWO YEARS!
WTF First oil at 12,000 MILES!
I heard that when BMW started offering the free servicing after purchase the intervals almost doubled using the same recommended parts & lubes

Not quite although some would like to believe it. When they altered scheduled maintainance intervals, a lot changed. The engine technology was all new and they went to what is called CBS. Or Condition Based Servicing, where the computer monitors oil levels and quality and then tells you when it needs to be serviced. They also went to Whole of life fluids in diffs, gearboxes and transmissions. Trans fluid on a new 7 series is something like $200 / litre and it has 6 or 7 litres. There is no dip stick in the new BM's, nor is there a filler cap. You need oil, best go to your dealer. You need a special machine to change the oil. One to suck it out and another to force it back in! But, all in all, most BMW owners are finding running costs mildly improved with CBS.

But, if you want to talk exxie, try and replace those bloody run flats they have these days!! Fark me they are exxie!!

Try 2 in 1 week, 1 he ripped on a gutter (damage to the sidewall) & the other failed by delaminating in a small section but the alarm still went off, he was spewing
I had to laugh cause with the first one he showed me & said do you think this will be ok ..... there was a big fark off hole in the tyre but it was still inflated this was my first introduction to the Run Flat
