Hey Pete,
Looks good mate, & no doubt less stuffing around than rekitting the originals like I did.

Do you think there is any improvement over std?

What did the brackets, calipers, pads etc set you back, landed in OZ?

Have to catch up again soon mate, long time no see. Maybe a ride to Imbil Rally is in order????

Hey Pete, looks great -much easier to set up and bleed that the std calipers.
Be interested in see how you rate any changes in performance over stock.
Sussed out a compatible m/cyl yet 8)

I took the bike for a ride today and was quite happy with the performance of the calipers mated to the stock M/C, so I don't think I'll bother changing that end of the system.

As for an improvement over stock.... couldn't really tell too much difference as I am just bedding in the new pads, but there was a good strong progressive feel at the lever... something that I have not had for a while with the old ones (couldn't get to old ones to bleed up after a re-build).

Hi Errol,

The costs were:

Calipers (second hand from the U.S.) AU$102.00
Brackets (via ebay from Taiwan) AU$170
Pads (via ebay) AU$45

Imbil hey?

It is on the 19-21st of November this year and that is when Cath wants to take a ride up to the tablelands... I'll keep you posted on that one, but yes, it would be fun to give it a go again.

Cheers,
Pete

Hey Tony,
Did you have any clearance problems with the banjo on the zx6 MC?...

I've been looking at getting a radial MC to go with my cbr1000 calipers but not sure which would suit these best?...any idea what bore x stroke size yours is?

cheers..

Hi James, I had to arm wrestle the goodrich ends to fit onto the banjo bolt. As I have the works throttle which routes over the bars clearance wasn't an issue. I even got a Nissin accessory to use the standard mirrors.

If I was you I would use the M/Cyl off the same model bike. The reason I used the ZX6R m/cyl is that Mama Kaw has done all the testing, and as it's basically a closed circuit the result should be the same as on the ZX6R. Have you looked at using a CBR m/cyl - I'm sure that Mr Honda has done the testing and you'll get a guaranteed result. I have heard so many bad stories of mismatches that don't work.

I did the Black Spur, Reefton Spur and a loop around Gembrook / Emerald on Sat and the brakes were ace.
Cheers,
Tony

Good in theory...

But Mama Kaw had apparently done all the testing on the ZX10r brakes from 04-07 and they still produced a cycle with shithouse brakes...

I see no reason to bother swapping the M/c's unless your running out of travel. maybe get a bigger one to push more fluid. But with braided lines the stock MC wuld be more than sufficient.

I used the stock zx10r (04) MC with my nissins, and they worked perfectly. the 04 didnt have the radial set up. just conventional.

Thanks Tony.....yep, already thought about CBR MC, just not sure how it would go fit wise, brake switch, banjo etc....also looks like the banjo sits on a bit of an angle underneath, not straight down...may have clearance probs?.
I'm sure performance would be fine, not heard bad things about the blades brakes...

Have also looked at just getting an aftermarket 19 x 18 Nissin, but cost is quite a bit higher..

Good to hear yours has worked out ok

No probs with the brakes Wattie, CBR calipers are great, much better than the stockers......only reason i'm looking at another MC is better feel at the lever, and a little more power wouldn't hurt!
The stocker just doesn't have the best feel....i think Tony mentioned the same thing before going with the ZX unit......

Apart from that, they work fine and pull up well.
