zx6r 07 - 12000km service

Post by rh1an5 »

hey guys,

my bike is due for its 12000km service, am i best to take it to a dealer or shop around?

im on the gold coast and was thinking of taking it to kawasaki or team moto, recommendations appreciated.

also what kind of cost am i looking at? and how far past 12000 is safe to go before the service?

Cheers

Not sure where is where on the Gold Coast but you could try Alex at Lae who is a KSRC sponsor and will look after ya.
Will be cheaper than a dealer..

LAE Racing QLD- Motorcycle servicing, Dyno tuning / mapping and general mechanical repairs. 10% discount to KSRC members. Located at 5/360 Newman Rd, Geebung, QLD

Dave, that's a fairly long way from the Gold Coast, and Alex's is not as cheap as he used to be.

I know a good mechanic in Springwood, but that's still a bit of a trip.
*edit* I remember this place from my sales rep days.. might be worth a call? http://motorcycles-service-dirtbikes-tu ... nance.com/ Warning, their driveway sucks.

How far past 12000km were you planning to go?

so i now have conflicting info and way different costing for the service.

i have been told its not a major service, no need to check valve clearance until 24000km's

team moto $190
Kawasaki (Bris and GC) $390

sugestions?

Devil might be in the details. The more expensive quote may include lots servicing goodies like lubricating things and checking things and changing things, the team moto one might be an oil and filter change.

Might be worth asking what work is included in their quotes.

well, dont go to a dealer then, just do it yourself mate..a dealer will rape you

You really only need a full dealer service every 24K, provided you have some bike maintenance experience :kuda:
