What would a ZX7 with a ZX9 motor be worth?

Post by ranger_dog »

I have a 2000 ZX7R that I have everything ready to complete the motor swap into it. My question is if I decide to sell it after I get it done, what kind of added value would it be? I plan on having everything mint condition when I am done, all parts painted, powdercoated, or polished, new brake pads, stainless brake and clutch lines, rotors if needed, new chain and sprockets this year (2000 miles on a supersprox 520 conversion, , +4) new tires, HID headlights, flush mount LED turnsignals in front on the fairing and mini mirrors with signals in them also, undertail kit with LED turnsignals in it, LED taillight with integrated turnsignals, K&N airfilter, Hindle high mount header with Muzzy carbon fiber exhaust muffler, new grips, double bubble smoked windshield. The motor will be installed using a BRG kit (the right way to do it), Muzzy reed chamber block off plates, carb kit, aluminum radiator fan, reuseable aluminum oil filter kit. I know it would be nice to see but it is in pieces right now. So use your imagination and I will have everything done right, looking good and custom in some areas. Appreciate the feedback.

To be honest I reckon not a fat lot more than a standard mint condition 7.
Maybe if it was a tracky a bit more but a roady I reckon you would be better served pouring your money into something with better return.
If I was looking to keep it for a while then maybe a couple of mods within reason, I would only go to that much trouble if I was going to keep it, not sell it.

My 2c, now I'm going back to bed :D

Modifications do not add value when it comes to vehicles!

Got to agree with these guys........
It'll probably sell for LESS than all the mods you are planning

Hi Ranger,

Slap a turbo and decompression plate on it instead.... much more power.

I also think that you will probably loose money when you sell it doing the mods you describe. That is the likely outcome in this country and I doubt the US is any different.

Best wishes and have fun.

By the way I can highly recommend "Sport Bike Track Gear" over in Michigan for parts. The have a website and thier delivery is cheap and fast.
