Anyway the EHR and the work being done around it is more important to me and Abbott wants to scrap it....again, because he scrapped Healthconnect too and set health communications back about 5-10 years in the process. The guy's a luddite so he won't get my vote.

EHR has so far wasted 50 million on standard setting and achieved nothing. He is right to scrap it. Health systems move slow, there is too much at stake to push systems fast into health, too much information that people don't want shared. Money would be better spent on actual doctors and nurses - and EHR is what I do!

Yeah right, because all we need is more doctors and nurses and everything is fixed Health isn't just doctors and nurses and anyone who actually works in the industry knows that.

There is a lot of work going on in the background that is reliant on those standards being set. Until they are, none of it can move ahead and if you truly work in the e-health field then would know that the EHR is only one small aspect of what will be achieved by getting it all in place. Move slow? FFS if you scrap the work already done then we'll move backward 20 years! Health isn't being pushed into anything, they are crying out for better communication between organisations but Abbott would like us to ignore all that because he's too stupid to understand what it's all about and so are the voters who listen to the crap they are fed by Fairfax.

NBN is a waste of media space if you ask me, there was some fool on radio the other day saying if it's not 100mbit then it's a waste of time, I'd say that 99.5% of the households in Australia (it's a home NBN as far as I know, most businesses that need fast internet have it aside from the home network) doesn't need any faster than good old ADSL2+.

The only thing I can think of that you need super ultra dooper fast huge bandwidth for is streaming stuff, I mean it doesn't really make that much difference if a download takes 4 seconds or 2 minutes, you still have to wait for it to finish to do anything with it. How much stuff gets streamed and how much bandwidth does it use? I mean really...

Even gaming nerds get by with ADSL2+ and some of them are the most nerdiest people on the planet.

Imagine streaming high resolution video or digital music. Let's say audio at 24-bit and 192khz
