Bugga!

If you do get the fine could you write a letter saying that because the induction loop sensor didn't detect your bike for so long you had no choice but to run the light?

I have had to do this quite a few times on Sunday mornings when there is no other traffic, it sux knowing its all you can do & is against the law but I would contest it anyway.

+ add that your bike was starting to overheat you were there so long so you had to get moving :P

OK, the law from my memory states, that if the signals fail to activate, after waiting for three rotations of the signals, then you are legally allowed to proceed. Should you be issued an infirngement notice, I would take it to court and suggest that said constable was not in viewing area during those three signal rotations.....!!!! ;)

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?

as for sitting forever at a light that will not change for you....I can see how common sense would appear stupid to a
fucken robot brained coppa ;)

Yep, common for General Duties. They often take details and fill in the book when they get back to the station and send it out. I'd have to confirm it but I'm pretty sure GDs don't carry infringement books around with them like highway do and just use the one back at the station when they get back in.

down here the MRA sometimes helps out with things like this (particularly getting done for parking on the footpath when the inspector doesn't know the law). do you have something similar up there?
can also report the sensor doesn't pick you up. get a crap reply but at least its on record there's a problem.

Also stopping and starting your engine can help too as the starter motor cranking over can be enough to disturb the magnetic field in the sensors 8)

i believe as has been suggested by the our resident policeman before, you should put your bike on the stand, walk over to the pedestrian crossing and push the button... this will activate the change in sginals...

having said that i'd have probably done what you did, maybe checks the mirrors first tho :?
