Attention Tasmanian riders

Post by StuMiller »

I'm looking for a bike shop / mechanic in or around Hobart who have problem solving / diagnostic experience. I am still having problems starting my 1999 ZX6 track bike, so I'm going to give it to someone who know more about this temperamental machine. I have just replacced the plugs, fuel is ok, batteriy is fully charged yet she just won't go.

I just want to ride the thing!

Any ideas as to where I can take it for a check up?

Cheers!

I can't help you with a mechanic in tassie,Has the bike been running when you'ved owned it? have you added or removed anything from it? I assume you've check all the normal stuff side stand switch, neutral switch, kill switch (come on be honest who hasn't been close to setting the bike on fire only to find the kill switch is off) on my 6r brought as a non running track bike the reason why it didn't start was because the previous owner had removed the ignition key barrel and replaced it with an on/off switch but the Kawasaki ignition barrel has a small resistor in it which suppiles a low voltage feed to the ECU this is to prevent scumbags ripping the wires from the back of the barrel and hot-wiring the bike, when i refitted the key barrel to my bike it fired up almost straight away.

Hi,

The bike used to start first time, everytime without fail. I bought it as an unregistered road bike, and took the road stuff off. It's done a PI track day and ran like a dream. I've added a BMC race airfilter (before PI), but other than that, just changed oil, plugs, simple stuff. I have moved to Tas just recently. Before I shipped it, I started it and ran it to temperature so I knew all was well. As soon as I picked it up three weeks later in Hobart, it just will not start. I'm not too sure if it has been left outside in the rain, but I have never had a problem with it, until now.

I'm at a loss as to what it could be.
