ummm pardon me.... apes might be studs
but what do they have to do with engines?

just a bit ! especially as its BHP !! it makes more power at the back wheel than my Barge

although with the mods that have been done, I am sure it makes good hp - maybe 120 ?

I am going to ask the guy to post up a dyno chart......see what the response is. If it makes 160hp at the back wheel, I will give up donuts for a year.



Yeh Smitty - APE = American Performance Engineering. I have some of their stuff in the Pearl. Normally though, APE studs are only used for the upper case - cylinder studs.....not for the lower half crankcase studs !

Nahhhh, I reckon 160 is fair, after all I get that from my sixfiddy .......... ha ha ha ha ....as if!!! A friend was getting 160 out of his turbo GSX1400... go figure.

Has potential though, I'd piss off the antidive front end.
160hp is generous, it would be possible out of a 1200 with a gpz head
but not on pump fuel, on race fuel maybe with 12.5 : 1 pistons and fairly big valves

He might be getting Crank and Back wheel mixed up. 160BHP on the crank is not that unrealistic on a highly modified bike... but 160BHP on the rear wheel...I doubt highly.

Graeme Crosby's mk1 Z1R back in the 70s was putting out 140+ HP so maybe 160 is a little high. But with modern mods 160 would be possable..

To get 160 at the back wheel - as the ad said - that old 2-valve motor would need to be putting out over 180 at the crank.

The GSX1100 that Steve Martin raced at the Island Classic this year, allegedly put out 160-odd hp, with a 4-valve head and built by a bloke who builds drag-bike motors. The way this thing took off from the grid, and basically shat on the entire field, I believe that hp figure must be on the money.

but 180hp from a normally aspirated 2-valve Z motor ?? what a load of old cobblers.



The bike was re-listed, and reached a max. bid of $7,200 - reserve not met !!! 7grand for a highly-modified z9 is about right. If it was a stocker, it would probably reach the reserve price.
