Here are some great news from the MCC. Interstate riders travelling in NSW are not required to have exhaust stickers on display. No more stupid revenue raising. Plus the EPA is no more, read on...

MOTORCYCLE COUNCIL OF NSW

MCC of NSW met with EPA last week. A considerably more mature and better
meeting than the last dishonest so-called "negotiation meeting" where EPA
arrived unwilling to negotiate anything. (that was just before the
Disallowance Motion was run in the Upper House). A new approach to the issue
has emerged, positive, will advise as developments occur, but nothing is
likely for at least 6 weeks.

NSW EPA (now part of the NSW Department of Environment and Conservation, or
DEC) will now be referred to as DEC.

Please note that DEC (EPA) have now dropped their assertion to interstate
riders regarding a need to comply with the obscure and retrospective NSW
labelling laws.

So will the laws remain unchanged for the poor NSW riders?

this is all good for interstate people and its good to see that the MCC are gaining weight. Its a step in the right direction...

but with all this, I'm still unclear as to where zx 10 riders stand in all this? With the scraping of ADR 83/00, what are we supposed to do? Under ADR 39/00 we do not comply and I believe the new 6R is in the same boat?!

For the moment yes, as announced in the letter, things are moving in the right direction, it will take a few more weeks before we can cry victory. The label has been pronounced dead in Parliament for a few weeks now.

I believe that the MCC wants to push EEC standards to become the rule. As most manufacturers build to these specifications (big market), it all comes to sense.

The MCC will also have great plans which will require involvement from our community. Stay tuned as things will unravel in the not too distant future.

It should all come good in around 6 weeks. The change of name and management of the program is proof that there will be some real change and that our voice will be heard. Whether they will take it into consideration is yet to be seen....

I will ask Guy what he knows on the particular subject, and let you know as soon as I get the feedback. To my knowledge, your bike was sold with an ADR compliance plate, however it should be clarified, for we all want to be law abiding citizens (it wasn't me officer....)

This is good news for me, I won't have to worry so much if I do get that Akra can from Kawasaki and take it for a "spin" across the border.
