.Silly silly boys :(
I have debated wether or not to post this, not for sympathy reasons, but my son was known by a few of you.
My oldest son Michael was involved in a very bad m/v accident as a passenger, some of you have met him at the last Halls Gap tour and he was planning to get a bike licence this year.
Basically he and a mate went out for Michael's 21st, near Oakleigh and crashed later around 1am the next morning, I cant speculate other than to say what the Police have stated, my son was not the driver and speed was definitely a contributing factor for the conditions.
He is in a very bad way. I flew down last night and visited in the late evening, it is a shock to see one of your own like that and very surreal. (different when its yourself). He is in a deep induced coma while we wait for brain swelling to ease, he may not make it, if he does then what extent of damage can only be determined once he awakes, if at all.
Take care out there you lot.

Two men injured in crash at Oakleigh
Paramedics have treated two men, one of them in a critical condition, following a crash at Oakleigh early this morning.
Advanced life support paramedics from Waverley and intensive care paramedics from Moorabbin and Clayton were called to the scene at the intersection of Ferntree Gully and Dandenong Roads just before 1am.
Intensive care paramedic Sam Marshall said when they arrived they found a front seat passenger unconscious and the driver unable to remember what had happened.
‘A 21-year-old passenger was slumped in his seat, and it took MFB rescue crews nearly 30 minutes to free him from the car.
‘He appeared to have suffered a head injury as well as a broken upper leg and pelvis.
‘The first crew on scene had climbed into the car to support the man’s jaw to keep his airway open.
‘We placed a neck brace on him in case he had also suffered spinal injuries, before carefully lifting him from the wreck using a spine board to keep him as still as possible.
‘We used splints to support his pelvis and leg.
‘Given the extent of his head wound we placed the man into an induced coma by giving him drugs to sedate and paralyse him.
‘A breathing tube was inserted into the man’s lungs to take over breathing for him.
‘Given the likelihood of internal injuries a drip was also used to give the man fluids.
‘He was then taken to the Alfred Hospital in a critical condition’ Mr Marshall said.
The 22 year old driver had suffered a cut to his head and was confused about what had happened. He was taken to the Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.[/quote]

A SERIOUS collision in Oakleigh has left a man fighting for his life this morning.
The man in his 20s was a passenger in a Hyundai sedan when it crashed into two empty parked cars on Dandenong Rd just before 1am.
A police spokesman said it took MFB crews about half an hour to free the passenger and the driver from the wreckage.
The passenger was taken to the Alfred hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver, also in his 20s, was taken to the Alfred in a serious but stable condition.
Police said speed may have been a factor and are investigating.

I went through a similar situation a few weeks back with my 17 year old son. Single vehicle accident,(4 boys 16-17 year old) hit a tree sideways. The 16 year old back seat passenger was killed, others to Hospital..............
