Just Wondering about chain wax

Post by Andy2613 »

Hi guys & gals just wondering if anyone has used or knows of "go chain wax"? I have been given a bottle of it & was wondering if anyone in the real bike world (not the quotes on the side of the box, dribble) have used it & what your opinion is. Any info would be great,i don't wont to trash a new chain or have something worst happering. :?

Trial and error if it's no good clean it off and use something u know that works, generally wax doesn't fling so could be good.... best is to use less but more often than coating the chain with enough for the next 12months.

With the wax based ones they work best when applied to a hot chain and then let cool ;)

I used it and didnt like it.. It turned to a dusty kind of shit after a couple of rides and kept disapearing.. Not to mention is was far from anti fling  I stopped using it after a couple of weeks and changed to silkoline titanium chain wax, like it mucho better ;)

I have used it for nearly a year and it is brilliant. Can't understand Kawawog's comment below, it is just the opposite - if you apply it properly. I does what it says. Does not fling, runs clean and lasts. It runs so clean maybe that's why Kawadog thought it had disappeared but rub your finger on the chain and you'll see there is always a wax coating - unless you only check after 3000km - it might be gone by then

You can't beat MAXIMA chain wax. It has bees wax in it and when applied to a warmed chain it stays on quite well.

I have been for a few rides now with it on ( bloody freezing down here ) & found it ok, haven't noticed much fling pretty much just the usual crap you pick up on a ride, putting it on a warm chain was also a good tip. :D
